Covid happened also. So the year after our championship run we couldn't even recruit in person and capitalize on the success of that season. Who knows what would have happened otherwise.

Covid was such a weird time. It only affected Baton Rouge and the LSU team. Amazing how it didn’t affect any other teams.

I’ve always thought a book about the rise and fall of O at LSU would be amazing

Yes, the SEC was NIL before NIL. So was the SWC. And the Big 8. And the Big 10. And Notre Dame was known to employ a bag man or two. Ditto on SC in the 70's. Miami anyone?

fricking ridiculous to reference the SEC like they were somehow especially crooked.

Both Coach O and BK have been accused of becoming lazy and quitting while on the job.

In hindsight, I think it is pretty easy to diagnose Kelly. He was a good offensive coach with a lot of fire at one time who coached long enough at notre dame to figure out what it took to win 10 games a year at that specific program and rack up a ton of wins along the way. Realize, he went 4-8 in his SIXTH year there and was able to keep his job by firing assistants and turning over play-calling duties. They then went on a great 6 yr run earning him the LSU job. By having been a head coach for so long, and being a 180 from Orgeron, allowed him to plug in a structured system in a floundering program that showed immediate on-field results, even with a team of average (for LSU) talent. And that was his ceiling as a 60 plus year old head coach who for over a decade, was able to average 9.5 wins a yr playing a non-conference schedule against teams of lesser talent, with a shite ton of job security and lower expectations.

Orgeron is more difficult to judge, Calling him a one year wonder isnt fair He was on a solid if not spectacular run as coach and had built a solid staff and solid team going into 2019. However in 2020, he of course had no experience and was unprepared to be a championship level coach.

He was also extremely unlucky to have Covid occur at the worst possible time under the worst possible circumstances. He had lost the core of the team to the draft, lost his DC, lost the play caller and system architect on offense, whiffed on what looked like a great signing class on paper in both 2019 and 2020, had no spring practice and no off-season training and only a few fall practices to break in the new staff. That was made worse in hindsight by revamping the entire defensive scheme and hiring Pelini to do it, That defense had no chance once the program shut down in March. And he lost his starting QB in week 3 of 2020 and in camp in 2021. He was also going thru a messy divorce, creating drama in his personal life, and was not doing the things that made him successful the last 2 years.

Brennan doesn't get hurt and/or we keep the same defensive scheme, and perhaps we are on a different path the last 6 years? Of course, that's wishful thinking and LSU had no choice but to fire him. Kudos to him for accepting it and not publicly blaming the players and/or all of the above for his failures.

[quote]And then hit lazy, quit on the team and fans, and it’s been down hill since. You are only making my point for me but somehow, you are too dumb to know it. Do you understand that my post clearly references 2020 and 2021 and you entire response to trash talk me spoke about everything but that time frame? How much Tylenol did your mom take?!?[/

O didn’t run shite into the ground like you’re trying to hate on the man for. Covid, BLM and racists like Ryan Clark infiltrated the locker room and turned players against O

Brain Kelly fricked this program out of more money and didn’t win shite. Dude played 400 rounds of golf. Now that’s lazy
