Clemson could be down a defensive lineman when the Tigers travel to Baton Rouge.

Defensive tackle Vic Burley was arrested early Saturday morning in Clemson, S.C. and charged with disorderly conduct. He played in all 13 games last year with one start. The Warner Robbins, GA., native was credited for 24 tackles and a pass breakup.

Head coach Dabo Swinney released a statement confirming Burley’s suspension.

“Earlier today, I was made aware of defensive tackle Vic Burley’s arrest by the Clemson University Police Department. I have made the decision to suspend Vic from our football team indefinitely. We are extremely disappointed in his actions and decisions.”

He’ll sober up, do community service and play with an ankle bracelet.

I figured he would play, I’ll have to do some reading. Funny this was two days ago didn’t seem too enthusiastic

All the vibes and sounds from Dabo to me are he isn’t a fan of his team.

He’s not. Dabo has had a great career but I believe it’s coming to an end

I don't know how much is left on contract, but yes, I could see him gone after this year.

You think he's stepping away? My most recent interactions (which were early last season) with Clemson Alums gave me the impression that, while they want better performances from the team, Dabo's seat was no more than lukewarm, if even that. Acted as though the low portal numbers were a badge of honor.

I would've thought Dabo had a bunch of choir boys.

Dabo is beyond desperate and will get fired at the end of the year. Of course he's gonna play him.

Go 6-6 or 7-5 again, and suddenly that badge doesn't have the same shine

Yes, his seat will heat up, but they aren't pushing him out yet.

He's been at Clemson since 2009 (17 seasons). He has had 13 10-plus-win seasons and 2 9-win seasons. He has 2 of Clemson's 3 national championships and played in two more. In the 17 seasons before Dabo, Clemson had no 10-win seasons and 4 9-win seasons. He also has 12 Bowl wins compared to 15 total before Dabo.

That's the reason the donor base is willing to tolerate last season without batting an eye and why anything short of a complete meltdown isn't likely to unseat him just yet.

Completely disagree on this one...big surprise. First, I have seen a list of several coaches on the hot seat and he is one of them. Some of the others are Aranda at Baylor, Riley at USC, DeBoer at Alabama, Ruhle at Nebraska, the Wisconsin coach Finkell, Belichek at UNC, and another one or two I can't remember.

This is deja vu all over again as Yogi Berra would say. I will reference Mike Gundy at Okie State...21 years there with a 5 year rollover contract. He never got into the NC game but won 10+ game in 8 seasons, 9 in 2 others. His putting of Okie State on the map didn't save him. Another similarity is that Gundy got crossways with the higher ups in the athletic department just like Dabo has been doing at Clemson.

Bottom line: a .500 season or so this year, he is flat out GONE!

Trying to fight a cop always works out good for you. Nice move.
