You think he's stepping away? My most recent interactions (which were early last season) with Clemson Alums gave me the impression that, while they want better performances from the team, Dabo's seat was no more than lukewarm,

Dabo clearly hates what CFB has become, I would not be surprised if he retired if the season is not a success.

Acted as though the low portal numbers were a badge of honor.

I remember last year watching their main (terrible) message board during and after our game. While a few were calling for his head, the sentiment of the overwhelming majority was basically as follows: “I want us to be great, but Dabo built this program. No matter how bad things might get, I’m not willing to push him out. It’s his. Hopefully he leaves before it gets bad, but if not, he earned the right to go out when he chooses.”

This season will probably be really bad with his lack of transfer portal usage and hiring a washed up Chad Morris

Pretty much what all 3 or 4 folks I spoke with said, if not verbatim, at least in sentiment.

Bottom line: a .500 season or so this year, he is flat out GONE!

I doubt it. I don't gamble, but I would take that bet if it were offered.

I think he's gone one way or the other after this season personally. Either he's forced out or he retires. He knows now the way he wants things done will not work in the current NCAA climate. His best days are behind him and he knows it. You either adapt as the NCAA changes or you end up like Dabo/Les Miles.

That's actually something LSU fans should appreciate from Lane. All the crap he gets from media, etc. but he has always been a forward thinker. He immediately embraced the portal/NIL changes and has changed his scheme up multiple times to fit teams. He's a perfect fit for us.

I do think he is considering stepping down. He seems to have a different attitude based on what I have seen; he seems just tired of how things have become.

But I do not think he will be fired. There is always the chance that a few highly placed boosters will put pressure on him, but I have not seen anything that makes me think that is in the cards just yet. Another mediocre season (7 or 8 total wins) this year, and that will possibly ramp up next year.

If he has a meltdown season, I still think they'll let him return if he wants to, but it may be a 2016 Les Miles scenario. He'd better win everything they expect him to, or it could be a midseason firing. But I doubt it is that bad of a season.

Outside chance he pulls a Spurrier this season and decides to wrap it up midseason. I also doubt that.

Yeah I’m sure Dabo hates what college football has become, being that he’s a holier than thou douche.

But what it really comes down to is that he is too stubborn and egotistical to adapt to the present landscape. And as a result, the program is heading in the wrong direction.

He will appeal, and be reinstated pending that, and end up sitting out the GA Southern game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Mike Gundy thought he was untouchable also. Just watch!
