Well, there is that 60s-aged guy who enrolled at LSU so he could play tuba in the marching band. So if you have a 33-yr old going for their 3rd PhD from LSU and wants to try out for football, go for it.

I think the tournament, for all sports, should include the previous season’s champions so they have a chance to defend their title.
This pretty much automatically happens in basketball and gymnastics. Probably will happen in football too, especially if there is expansion. But the data set is too small for now.
