Landry isn't micromanaging. He's just helping connect people and push things when asked. He doesn't care about LSU nearly as much as people think he does.

Working with a governor got LSU a stadium.

I don't think his point about SMU holds any relevance. If anything, SMU was a shitty program except for a couple of outliers up until the 1980s when they became really good because they paid players with Clements's involvement. Sounds like Clements helped make them relevant and did a good job fielding competitive teams if anything. They got caught, but that shite is legal now so we don't have to worry about that.

I am happy to have people in authority who know to take sports seriously. In government and university administration. I agree that I don't want micromanaging to go overboard.
