Chris Jackson. I wish I could’ve seen him play at LSU. I was young and barely remember.

Shaq. Loved seeing the ball get swatted 3 rows deep and no one driving to the rim after that

saw both and both were one-man freak-shows. The difference, at least IMO, was that CJ was surrounded by elite teammates. Pete was surrounded by teammates that were probably barely starters on crappy HS teams. He was the ONLY legitimate scoring threat. He got all the shots. CJ did not.

Of course, with that said... The three point line would have helped Pete but CJ could score from ANYWHERE at any time against better competition with teammates that needed (and produced) their own points. I still think their numbers would have been pretty much identical had they swapped.

There is so much wrong with this post. I was in school when Pete was in school and went to nearly all of his games. I also it was a season ticket holder from 1982 to 1993. I saw a lot of great players during a time. Do you want to know the difference between Pete and Chris Jackson all you had to do was look at their height. He was as good or better of a ball handler in Jackson and was much more prolific as shooting from anywhere on the court including in the lane.

What people on here NEVER talk about CJ was what happened in the NBA where he played for the one and only Ex Loyola Marymount HC Paul Westphal. CJ has an illness that showed up to the point that defenders knew what he was going. To do when handling the ball. His medication caused it to happen to the point he tried to get off of it. I read about it and later on talked to an ex-NBA player about him.

So give me one year of Shaq because he could flat out run the floor when he was in college and jump through the roof. In today’s game the foul rules would benefit him and LSU for those dumbasses not considering how the rules changed.
NBA late years Shaq is FAR different than 1993-2000 Shaq.

a guy who is just bigger than everyone.

I get what you're saying but I think that was not really true of college Shaq, in particular. The guy was a quick as a cat, I had never seen a guy that big move like that. And he was bigger than almost everybody else.

But sheer ball skills and understanding of the game, definitely Mahmoud. And more entertaining to watch, for sure.

CJ. We had season tickets then and my dad and I would drive from Opelousas for every home game. What a great time for LSU basketball.

Hi Geary,
You are either very young or very unfamiliar with “the game Pete played”. No comparison between him and ANY other player. Playing in today’s game or whenever, no player can compare.
It you repost the same topic with Shaq, Chris (and I enjoyed watching all three play) and Pete,I believe the overwhelming response would be Pete. He was/is basketball.

CJ, by a big margin.

He was just obscene when he got rolling.

I was lucky to be a student at LSU when Pete played. He had amazing skills. I remember standing in line at the AG Center waiting to get in to watch Kentucky vs LSU. If I'm not wrong, that game was televised. The AG center was packed for that game. Those were great times. To get in to watch a game in any sport, you only had to show your student ID. Baseball was lucky to have fifty people at the game. Back in the day, LSU also had a wrestling team. Most of the guys on the wrestling team were from out of state. Many players came from states like Iowa and Idaho.
