You can neutralize Shaq with the college defenses.
Plus his free throw shooting would drive me insane.
CJ in his prime was the ultimate theater in college basketball. Those kind of players are few and far between.
The game has changed even at the NBA level. The true centers have all but been removed from the game.

Went to every Pistol game as a student, including his freshman (not eligible) year.
Saw Chris and Shaq as well.
1. Pete
2. CJ
3. Shaq

Jackson without a doubt. Sat in student section for both

Like I said, many of the NBA’s all-time great players AFTER Pete — have stated how much they were in awe of his capabilities.

No offense to Chris Jackson/MAR, but Shaq was a phenom. regardless of whether he was as good in college as he was in the pros, Shaq was one of the greatest athletes of all time. Sure, I'd LOVE to watch Chris Jackson put up 53, but getting to see Shaq play is something I'm very sad that I was too young to see.

Yall may be right but I think that his game would be more common right now, Shaq would throw a wrench in the world's game plan and the way you coach

CJ - saw him play in person many times at the PMAC. He could take over a game by himself and defenses had no answer for his many skills. He was pretty much automatic from the FT line, right at 90%
Shaq - Teams had no answer for Shaq in the paint or rebounding. Dude was a freaking wreckin crew, a man amongst boys. Unfortunately he was a liability at the charity stripe (61%) which is why teams went to the "hack-a-shaq" late in the game. Because CBB had never really seen someone with his physical ability, he recv'd a bunch of BS calls from the refs resulting in foul trouble.

Zero disrespect to the Pistol with this question but did he have the athleticism to play with today’s players?
Today’s players are playing the way they do because of Pistol Pete Maravich.
Pete revolutionized the game.
You can’t say that about many players in any sport.
I don’t know your age (and no disrespect) but I will continue to post about Pete on this board because what he did at LSU and for the sport of basketball should never be forgotten.
Go Tigahs

Probably CJ, I loved watching him as a kid...but if I had a third choice, I wish I could have seen the pistol play in person.
I saw both and both were one-man freak-shows. The difference, at least IMO, was that CJ was surrounded by elite teammates. Pete was surrounded by teammates that were probably barely starters on crappy HS teams. He was the ONLY legitimate scoring threat. He got all the shots. CJ did not.
Of course, with that said... The three point line would have helped Pete but CJ could score from ANYWHERE at any time against better competition with teammates that needed (and produced) their own points. I still think their numbers would have been pretty much identical had they swapped.

Shaq
The man was such a physical freak There have been a lot of great ball handlers who can shoot in this world.
And, there are a lot of very tall basketball players.
But Shaq was the equivalent of walking in the park and seeing a 70 pound rabbit hop by.

CJ. Kid was electric. Saw both he and Shaq play many times while at LSU. Shaq is great and dominated because of his size and power. But CJ was mr clutch shot.

NO ONE, not even Joe Burrow, worked as hard on his game and conditioning as Pete did. Watch some film. Whistle to whistle balls to the wall.

Youtube does CJ no service. Pretty much ALL of his video is slo-mo. I have never in my 56 year life seen any human being get the ball off the dribble and into the air faster than CJ. It was one fluid motion. Hard to believe what he was doing when you saw it live.
