CJ EASILY for me. He was spectacularly fun. I've always said this. No knock on Shaq Daddy-I just loved Mahmoud.

I saw both of them play in person. Chris Jackson as a freshman was the most exciting basketball player at LSU since The Pistol. So many big shots at crucial times and then the four point plays! Such a small, slight guy, too. Great times!

When they arrived at LSU, Stanley Roberts was a much more polished offensive player than Shaquille O’Neal, who was very raw. In fact, when the season began, Roberts started and Shaq came off the bench. The problem was Roberts was rather...er, lazy and just not very sharp. Shaq played with infectious energy and with no fear. He also had an undeniable drive to be the best and he was a smart kid. Unfortunately, Dale Brown struggled to figure out how to best use the talent he had. To be honest, Dale coached better without a lot of talent. Eventually, Brown went with the twin towers concept. Shaq improved each season and would continue to work on his game (especially footwork in the post) in the NBA.
By the way, a college player named Wilt Chamberlain had a 40+ inch vertical leap, high jumped and triple jumped on the college track team, and could run like a gazelle. If you ever saw Wilt stand next to Shaq, you’d wonder how they were the supposed to be the same height.

Tale of the tape
LINK
Btw Wilt’s 40 inch vertical story is a myth started by Wilt himself. He actually said it was between 46 and 48 inches and that in his prime he could get that high easily lol. It wasn’t ever officially measured but a few people have used footage and other images to determine it was actually between 33 and 35 inches. But again not official in any way.

Because I was there during the CJ and Shaq years, I’d have to say Pistol.

Imagine Pistol Pete only averaging 3.2 assists (1989-1990) with targets of Shaquille O'Neal, Stanley Roberts, Wayne Sims, Vernel Singleton, Maurice Williamson, etc. LOL
What Dale Brown allowed Jackson to do is just insane, horrible team ball. 1st round exit in the SEC tournament and 2nd round exit in the NCAA tournament.
Jackson was a great FT shooter, had the ability to get his shot off at the top of the key without the double team... that was basically it for his game.

Chris Jackson. He was a blast to watch him play

Should you have included Pete?
Posted on 3/3/20 at 11:40 am to Geert
Shaq, of course. You think Chris Jackson would fill the arena more than Shaq?

When Jackson played was the most fun watching LSU play basketball ever. Shaq was there with him but Jackson was absolutely unconscious. They guy was freaking unstoppable from anywhere on the court. If he wanted to score there wasn’t anything anybody could do to stop him. He could score at will. Unbelievable !

Want an example????? LSU vs. Marymount. What a game.

Intentionally made it just btw Shaq and CJ bc both sides have good points about what would be better in today’s game. A monster like Shaq or another Steph Curry type guy in Mahmoud. The Pistol is legendary. Was just trying to keep the question simple. I think most would pick Pete over the other two
