Does it even matter anymore? Lets all wish Chase well, regardless of what you think of his decision and get behind Coach O. Players come and go, but coaches are always here for the long haul.

Jordy or T-Bob simply asked him has he heard from the staff since the announcement and he responded by saying he hasnt heard from them. How did you twist that into him asking for someone to kiss his arse?

Maybe a lil bit of Coach O not addressing race issue quick enough

I’m pretty sure Coach O was one of the first coaches to speak out and release a statement

Half this board wants us to kiss Chase's arse

It makes no sense. Nobody should tweet mean things at him, but we dont need to post "loves and Kisses Ja'maar, make that paper!"

He chose to leave the team 4 weeks before the season. It screws lsu. As an lsu fan, he fricked us. Just the facts

It would be so awesome if LSU can pull out an 8-2 season after all they have lost. Shut the haters up.

This is so dumb if true. They have had a relationship with O for years. Chase decommitted from another school to play for O and he did everything that was promised, Jimmy Chase’s words, and they are going to let something that happened two seconds ago completely change their feelings towards him?

See, I do, you committed to a school that I will pull for, we made plans for recruiting and personnel based on your commitment, then you just say....nah, I am good.

8-2? This team is still more talented than any in the SEC and at least as talented as Alabama. Have some pride suck it up. 8-2 would be the worst scenario. This team should be 9-1 or 10-0.

Chase’s dad also said there were no outside influences on their decision from agents or Ryan Clark or anything like that, and that it was just “common sense”. When asked why now, he said “when is a good time?”

My guess is the coaching staff was completely caught off guard.

Chase told someone and they let it slip or the staff and then CBS reported on it without chase having the chance to break the news.

Don’t think so. Rumors were swirling and boosters knew days before CBS announced it. My grandfather emailed me about Chase and Shelvin leaving back on Friday (8-28) evening.

The rumor is that people think, because O is a Trump supporter, that he is by default racist and cannot understand the BLM movement or empathize with the black players.

It sounds crazy, but the narrative is if you're Trump, then you are racist by default and hateful. That is what O is facing right now. His time on FOX news was more detrimental than beneficial at this present moment. That's also when Ryan Clark became VERY vocal about no longer supporting LSU and being all ASU because of the culture of the coach.

This country is no longer free because you cannot have an opinion that differs from the mob without backlash or being cancelled.

At this moment, I wouldn't mind if the season was cancelled until things calm down. I mostly wanted the season so guys like Chase could still play, but if they don't want to, what's the point of wanting to play this season if we're being set up to fail? The players are holding O hostage for his beliefs, and that is so wrong.

Chase's dad said HE hasn't talked to Coach O. He spoke to a couple of assistant coaches. He didn't say Ja'marr didn't speak to O.

I put it on just soon enough to hear t bob say this has nothing to do with protests and those who think so are politicizing this for their own reasons (presumably conservatives).

Then I just read that chases dad said it was a perfect storm of pandemic social injustice and politics.

He also said during the announcement that this isnt pandemic related.

Wouldn't that pretty much mean that its very social injustice influenced?

He has a right to leave for whatever reason he wants but to say its not really covid related initially and then somewhat backtrack just means they gauged the publics reaction and decided to just keep the reason private.

When looking at the first 22 I could buy that argument minus Bama (they have 6 projected first rounders to LSU's one who isn't even playing now) but this team has zero depth at key positions. You're counting on true freshmen to bail you out of a 10 game SEC schedule.
There could be some ugly moments once injuries and covid positives pile up. They will be better for it moving forward though.

When I heard him say that, my first thought was "that's the only piece that the rantards are going to take away from this interview". He specifically said that the decision had nothing to do with all of this other crap that everyone is wanting to keep stirring up and that it was due to all of the uncertainties and risks around the current COVID-impacted season vs. the certainty of being a top pick and guaranteed millions.

They obviously talked with Coach O when he made the decision to leave. After that, what is there to talk about? Move on.

You want to be a man then man up and talk to your coach. And if daddy Chase advised him otherwise then that's bad parenting.

TYFYS, now bye.

I wish him no ill will and he made his decision. But why in the hell should lsu fans be "happy for" a player that leaves the team high and dry 4 weeks before kickoff? And it sure looks like he did it without giving coach O respect

This is the correct take.

I would have had no issue had he done this months ago. He didn’t just wake up last week and realize he’s a lock top 5-10 pick. So hiding behind “it was a common sense decision” is a bit of a cop out. Especially when you were just quoted fairly recently about how bad your son wanted to play.
