If the ref had only blown that play dead for a false start then Benji Thibodeaux would not have been called for grabbing the QB’s face mask back in 1979 and LSU would have beaten the mighty USC Trojans.

How about the following year if LSU gains another foot on fourth down
late in the 4th quarter against Bama? We win the game by running out the clock then play in the national championship game and probably win that.
We easily could have won 2 nattys in a row!

Didn't listen to Pate but there have been a handful of hypotheticals that had some still felt reverbarations.

2006 - win at AU or UF and we rematch UF in Atl. Winner to the natty.
2008 - if Perriloux doesn't Perrilloux ...
2012 - if Tyrann is still on the team

If we kick a tying FG against Ole Miss in 1969 - we go 9-0-1 and play Texas in the '70 Cotton Bowl, possibly for a natty in 1969.

HonMen:

If one of 2 LSU DBS who collided trying to bat down the A&M Hail Mary on the last play in 1970 just bats it down, we win 18-13.

Same year. If we hold on to an INT in the end zone against Notre Dame, in 1970, it is possibly a pick-six and the winning TD.

We win 1 or both of those in 1970, we may have beaten #1 Nebraska in '71 Orange and won a natty.

Ill-timed S.Martin fumble near alabama goal line in 1987 prevents a win and a 10-0-1 season.

2006 Auburn and Florida.
2011 Okie State
2012 alabama
2014 alabama

Jacob Hester’s “fumble” versus auburn in 2006. Hell, you can just say the ref crew from 2006 versus Auburn.

UGA wasn’t a lay up that year, they had the ball inside the 5 when time ran out on Bama. But whoever won was going to boat race ND

I still think if Saban stays just 3 more years he wins 2 more titles (2006-07)

That did cost us that game and we had 2 loses besides that so it doesn’t even win the west or derail Bama

Drew Brees does not have shoulder problems and goes to Miami Dolphins, where Nick Saban is the coach. Brees plays great, Miami goes to play-offs.. Saban decides to stay, has great success and coaches there until he retires.

Oklahoma State missed fg in 2011
PI called at Auburn in 2006

Would have been two more national championships for LSU

Imagine if that sumbitch Les had 3 national championships. Does LSU fire a coach with 3 national championships in 2016? Does LSU have the greatest team of all time in 2019?

2019 helped ease of lot of the pain of LSU getting screwed in that 2006-2011 era.

Unless it’s “NCAA decides to start paying athletes”, I don’t need to click.

If Saban had never left, we would be sitting on 6-7 national championships in this century. He would have had a historic run here.
