Uhh that's kinda the point of a game manager. He's not going to win you games on his own.

Actually Jarrett Lee would have QB'd an 11-1 team if Jefferson had never seen the field at Bama.

Yeah the initial point in the OP is wrong. You can win with a game manager and elite defense and special teams. OSU in 2002 is a great example. LSU in 2011 would have been one too.

That being said, this team is currently at the same level on defense and special teams that you'll need to withstand 20ish pass attempts a game.

I don't disagree, but look at the title of this thread - I'm talking about championships. And if we didn't have the defense and special teams we did in 2011, Jarret Lee and Jordan Jefferson would have quarterbacked an 9-3, 8-4 team.

you continue to argue against your OP...

Sure, but he's right about the defense and special teams play that year. That team - on QB talent and production alone - wasn't an SEC championship squad.

His stats; his 2nd half performance thus far. What about him spells LSU hall of fame, national championship MVP, jackass?

what idiot came up with the term GAME MANAGER anyway? It's got to be one of the stupidest terms ever made up. You could just say a QB has marginal abilities or is average. Both terms are much more descriptive. Sorry, but ETling looks to have above average abilities to me and I think will prove it out over the course of the season.

If Etling can play with similar stats to those he had against moo state we will be hard to beat.

the stats aren't near as important as the score. we have had two straight games where we only scored one TD total in the second half. i'm not blaming Etling but this team better quit fricking up in the second half are we aren't gonna win shite.

Then all I got to say to you is try to go to Clemson or Louisville and talk Deshaun Watson or Lamar Jackson to come play qb for us right now. And when you think about it, other than Cam Newton, Vince Young, and Tim tebow what other great running qb won the title in the last 20 years? Josh heupal, Ken Dorsey, Craig krenzal, Matt Mauck, Matt Leinart, Chris Leak, Matt Flynn, Greg McElroy, Aj mccarron, jameis Winston(was not a great runner) and Jacob coker were all smart decision making, accurate game managing qbs who won National titles. That type of qb worked back then and yes that type of qb still works just fine today.

Same as everyone who has replied to your post. shite dude, we made it to the national championship game without a quarterback and lost to a game manager. With fournette and guice all we need is a semblance of a passing game to keep teams honest

They're more descriptive but less accurate. The point of a "game manager" (and by the way I hate the term too) is that he doesn't make a lot of mistakes and put your team into bad situations. A game manager is not a QB who can put the team on his back and win a game for you. But he's also a guy that isn't going to lose it for you either. Alex Smith vs. Brett Favre.
