This Saturday will be a big test in the 7 pm market...right now ABC is dominating them.

The nation has Bama fatigue.

ETA: it’s like Notre Dame for me. I will not watch them unless I think are going to lose. The country as a whole has no desire to watch Bama unless there is a chance of them getting beat.

TCU/Arkansas
Tennessee/Florida
Alabama/Vandy
LSU/Florida
Auburn/LSU
Tennessee/Alabama
Florida/UGA

Their matchups have been garbage this year.

CBS only has the SEC. Georgia-Bama is the only game a nationwide audience would want to see.

It has nothing to do with the prime time slot and everything to do with the matchups and weak traditionally solid to great teams. Bottom line

I have no clue what CBS shows on Saturday night but someone over there must have the numbers to prove whatever they are airing gets better ratings than a primetime college football game.

Hard to believe that but I can't come up with another rational reason why they don't want to air college games like ABC and FOX throughout the season.

Their coverage is garbage, too. Gary is terrible. And the games seem to last longer than average because there are more commercials: Before and after every kick off, and any other timeout or stoppage in play. It gets annoying for the average fan. Unless you have vested interest in the game, you’re much less likely to continue watching. You’ll just find another game. Especially during the day when there are more options.

The CBS SEC contract is slotted for 3:30 ET. There isn’t adapting in the contract. They used to never air a night SEC game until the worked with ESPN to air the Game of the Century in 2011.

When the matchups are good, they have great ratings at 3:30. The SEC just sucks this year.

Penn St at Ohio State was at 3:30, and that’s 2nd on that list.

ABC is dominating who? CBS does not even carry prime time games except the Bama LSU game.

This is super false. CBS has aired one primetime game per year for many years. LSU-Florida was the primetime CBS game in 2007-2009. Florida-Tennessee was the primetime game on CBS before that.

Gary is one of the best in the business. Really does his homework on the matchup he's calling. Just because he doesn't stroke our ego about LSU doesnt mean he's bad.

Bama's season opener.

can't say this, and then complain when they show bad games like when fox had TCU and Kansas...

When LSU starts crushing Alabama this weekend, fans will tune in by the millions to watch them lose.

Yes, they did. Florida-LSU 2007 was a night CBS game. LSU-Florida 2008 was a night CBS game. Florida-LSU 2009 was a night SEC game. I don't remember the night game for 2010.

The SEC TV contract gives CBS the 2:30 time slot and their pick of the games for it. They get two primetime slots at 7:00 PM for the season with first pick of the games for it. ESPN/SECN pretty much gets the rest.
