The portal has not proven to make champions. It has greatly benefitted teams and helped teams turn themselves around. I hope this helps us be more competitive next year and fix some problems, but it's not going to supply us with enough talent to compete for a championship alone.
The 2025 recruiting class looks good, but the 2024 class looks like its still plugging holes, and it takes two to three classes unless we get very lucky in the portal and even luckier with not having injuries during the season. At this rate, I don't even believe we beat bama again until 2027, assuming that the recruiting continues to trend back up and that UT and OU don't help dismantle our talent.

Doesn't matter WHO you get on defense out of the portal if you don't make coaching changes on that side of the ball. House could make the 2010 defense look like shite with his odd 3rd down failures.
