At a certain point, they should stop worrying about being good neighbors to the people that aren't worried about being good neighbors to them.

Look at who he hired. Dalton help academics tremendously. Tate was tanking us

If you want to clean up the university, you need to worry about the football team.

All you need to see is U of Alabama before and after Saban's run to know this is true.

I graduated from LSU, and there is no chance in hell my daughter goes there. She might not ever step foot on campus with the way things are going. I'd be sad about it if it wasn't so pathetic.

I don't want him focusing on academics either. He sounds like he's never been to school.

"Between 2007 and 2022, enrollment at the University of Alabama has increased by 51%, from 25,580 to 38,645 students.

In that same time, the college more than tripled its endowment, surpassing a record $1 billion in 2022. It also has nearly doubled its physical footprint, adding an engineering quad, the country’s largest Starbucks, and state-of-the-art dorms and recreational facilities, among other massive capital projects."
I was going to post the same thing.

A championship level football is massive advertising for the university and drives up interest in the school, applications, donations, etc. even from non-football sources.

Alabama always had a beautiful campus but there's been so much improvement to it, and to the city of Tuscaloosa -- all because of football.

Even suggesting that the university improve academic standards is immediately met with downvotes.

Average ACT composite scores by admissions year:
-Fall 2005- 23.2
-Fall 2010-2019 the average held steady at around 25 composite score.
-Fall 2020- 25.4
-Fall 2023- 26.5
-Fall 2025- 27.3

When I went to LSU in the 1990s you basically had to take the ACT and you were admitted regardless of score. It’s much different now. If you have a below average ACT you better have a good GPA to compensate. They do some provisional admissions and some of my kid’s classmates were admitted this way with lower ACTs and good GPAs. The admissions standards have improved over the last few years and much more over 30 years.

From a crime standpoint I completely understand especially with your daughter. My sons went to LSU recently, but it’s not the same for girls. It’s a completely different ball game.

Few people here actually attended or care about the university itself.

Like him or not Tate did bring more money and recognition and academics than the previous president. To your point this website is infested with non-LSU alone. They don’t give two fricks about the academic side of the university. And frick all of them.

No, it's not. It is an air, land, and sea-grant research institution.

The admissions standards increased under Tate. There is no denying that. The average ACT going up from a 25 to over 27 in just 2-3 years.
