May be a dumb question, but Lord knows The Rant is full of dumb questions (maybe it's just my turn).
Is a Library really a necessity in today's world?
Not in its current form, which is why the LSU Master Plan calls for it to be torn down. Returning the quad to it's original design, and relocating the new "Library" (technology learning complex) to South Stadium and Fieldhouse Dr.

It's not TAF's fault that LSU's student and educational leadership is god awful.
This x 1000. The athletic department gives millions back to the academic side every year.

All I'm saying is that LSU made a bad deal with TAF.
So in allowing an organization to fully fund athletics, including maintaining/upgrading facilities helping LSU to continually have a national spotlight to showcase the university, LSU somehow is getting the short end of the stick?
An organization who prioritizes access to it's most valuable commodity, football season tickets, by donations both to itself AND the university is somehow screwing the university? I have donated to TAF (as required for purchasing my season tickets only) and to the University (both prior and subsequent to getting tickets). I know many others have as well, while in line to build up priority points.
TAF is a private charitable organization that donates money to the academic side of the university as well as the fully funding the athletic program. They are allowed to use the University logo etc. in exchange for the millions of dollars they save the university every year to fund the athletic department.

TAF would be nothing if it couldn't market LSU athletics.
And LSU athletics would a shell of what it is without TAF.

There is no LSU atletics without LSU.
And there is no powerhouse LSU athletics without TAF.

Public Funds = Public Bid Law = Low Price Wins =/= Good work.
End of thread.
End of thread.

I can count on my hands the number of times that I used the library while I was at LSU.

LSU uses that roof leak to shake down the state every other year or so, I doubt they want it fixed. Bad publicity that valuable doesn’t come cheap.
They will eventually bronze that trash can they use to catch water and put it in the LSU HOF!

How about JBE fix the roof. He's adds claim that the economy is so great, let him fix it .
Didn’t he say higher education was fully funded? What’s the problem?

So TAF should just keep donating more and more money because the incompetent university administration can’t figure out how to allocate the donated funds properly?

TAF is not donating money to the university, the LSUAD is doing that, to the tune of $8-10 million a year. Tradition Fund $$$ goes to the AD not to TAF. Same for SEC monies. The money that LSU Football generates goes into the LSUAD Fund which is part of the university and NOT private.

Yet the state is giving the Saints owner $400 million over 20 years even though she is the richest person in the state. Priorities are some kind of screwed up!

Have you seen the economic impact Alabama’s football success has had on their school and Tuscaloosa? Also they’re the ones that generate the money, why should it not be spent on them?
Are UA’s libraries also shite holes?
The football program doesn’t exist without the university.
Football players shouldn’t have state of the art facilities while the rest of the school falls into disrepair.
IM NOT SAYING that is the current state of things at LSU. I’m arguing against the idea that the two things are unrelated.
I agree with you blaming LSUs leadership. It would just be nice if everyone could get their act together and get along for the betterment of the university as a whole.

When the library can fill 102k fans then the roof will be fixed. The library is so in the past, kids have Ipads and laptops to research for papers now.

Being a former student I could care less. Go into PFT and study. It's nice renovated and free access.
No one studied at the library.

Call your local legislator. This state has abandoned LSU.

Wrong and laughable.
Private money donated to athletics should be held back until the general fund catches up? Lol
King should try to not waste so much money and maybe people would give to the school as well as athletics

If TAF wasn’t Building all these new facilities the Ath Dept. would have to pay for them and the university wouldn’t get the large donations.
