The main case against voter ID has long been that getting a valid photo ID is too burdensome—appointments, lines, drugstore photos, travel. This America.gov passport process removes those barriers: apply fully online from home, take your own photo, no forms or middlemen. Since a U.S. passport is accepted as voter ID in every photo-ID state, the accessibility objection loses force.

I find it humorous that the assumption is that everyone has 165 of free cash to spend on a passport. I’m sure the same side railing against publicly funded libraries would also assume everyone has the internet and a smartphone too

It’s a nail, not the final nail

You don’t have to get a passport, you can go to DMV and get ID. It is more convenient was the point. You need an ID to work, you need ID for government assistance, you need an ID for everything. Everyone has the proper paperwork available to get an ID.

91% of people over 18 have a smart phone. The ones that are demented and can’t use a smartphone shouldn’t be voting anyway. There is also free internet at the library for those who don’t have access.

The only reason democrats are against this is they want ballot harvesting.

I thought one of the issues with some of the new proposed voter ID laws was that a driver's license wouldn't be acceptable

You think they know what a library is, and where to find it?

You mean the same people that always seem to have money for extensions, long nails and tattoos?

You need proper documents to get DL,
You need proper documents to get passport.
You are supposed to have a valid birth certificate or proof of Citizenship to register to vote.

To show up and vote, you should have to show the proper ID, be it DL or passport.

Registering to vote and voting are separate issues, but in many blue states and cities, there is zero requirement to show ID or even be registered to vote.

if that's true about being able to renew online, and assuming it doesn't take months to receive it, that's pretty good news about the passport, always been a pain in the arse to renew

Pew Research says 93pct of cell phone owners have a smart phone. And the USDA says the average two person house spends $180/week on food.

Got another good TDS argument lined up? Maybe the color of the typeface is ableist or something? Times New Roman font is insensitive to greeks and turks?

The nail in the coffin against voter ID is they try to restrict mail in voting

On line renewal is easy. The only renewals you need to do in person are minors.

It may help in the argument, but it’s not gonna change anything.

They will say that Black People don't know how to use computers and are too proud to ask for help due to the legacy of Slavery.

The internet says you still have to appear in person to get your first passport.

You can renew online, but you could already do that. Maybe this makes it easier or something, but it doesn't help if you don't already have one.
