If only Burrow hadn't quit on LSU halfway through most of his games.

Seriously though, think about the fact that Zappe has been a number of barnburner games and probably played every snap of every game. What Joey B did is much more noteworthy but was going to be broken by someone in a Madden type G5 conference.

Helps when you throw the ball 55 times a game. But it was bound to happen sometime with an air raid offense.

He is gonna pass up his passing yard record as well. Kid can sling it even though the competition is no way similar to when Joey B did it.

He’s also not throwing to two future first rounders, a second rounder and a future first round RB that can catch and run. Competition is not the same, but the talent around him is light years way from being the same.

He's also not throwing against defenses that have 1st rounders playing on them. Stop the madness it's no where near the same accomplishment as burrow.

He didn’t play against Saban, Smart, and Venables.

He just tied it

Congratulations to Zappe and his future as the answer to an Aflac trivia question on the SEC on CBS

By the looks of the defense, he probably will throw five more touchdowns in the second half

And he's done it in 1 less game!

ESPN has made sure to mention it numerous times

Too bad he’s thrown 100+ more passes. Almost double the interceptions. And under 70% completion percentage.

But good for the kid

The number of pass attempts is more important for this stuff than the number of games. He’s thrown way more passes.

Joe Burrow played way more games when he broke the Tim Couch records but Joe Burrow shattered the SEC records in less pass attempts.

Yeah but the kid doesn’t have the weapons that Burrow did either.

nor the weapons covering Burrow's weapons either. It is all proportionate I am sure.

Burrow did it against the elite of the elite on the defensive side of the ball.

The kid also didn’t beat 7 top 10 teams like Burrow did.

Burrow didn’t either. That was LSU.

Did Western Kentucky beat Texas, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson this season? I don't think so.

The Burrow 2019 comparisons are odious, imho.

He's also not playing 2/3rds of the season by sitting out the second half against nearly half his opponents.

Here are the numbers through the halftime for Zappe vs Burrow in 2019. Zappe needed nearly 150 more attempts to tie Burrow.

Zappe
Passing - 467/671 - 69.6% - 5856 yds - 60 TDs - 11 INTs
Rushing - 49 Carries - 22 Yards - 0.4 YPC- 3 TDs

Burrow
Passing - 402/527 - 76.3% - 5671 yds - 60 TDs - 6 INTs
Rushing - 115 Carries - 368 Yards - 3.2 YPC- 5 TDs

Not sure why they would be in the same record book. Them and the SEC are completely different leagues.

The guy is having a phenomenal season and is nailing his throws. And yes, LSU obviously had better talent, but LSU went up against phenomenal teams. Burrow scorched the #1 ranked D in the nation twice during the season and beat 5 of the final top 17 defenses in the nation. Zappe is averaging about 15 attempts more per game than Burrow averaged. I don't think he would break Joe Burrow's record with about 200 fewer attempts if dropped into that position in 2019 even with all of LSU's talent around him.
