Can he tackle? I know he is strong, quick and athletic but I never saw him tackle anyone.
He was the tackle leader on the D-line in '25.
52 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2 sacks

He was by far our best DE against the run last year and would probably be again this year if he returns.

There is no chance someone claims him off of waivers, and i thought he said he would not sign a practice squad deal

But you have to be on the roster for the whole season.
If you are on a practice squad for all 18 weeks you make 247,000. Is LSU paying that?

I kinda want to see Pyburn at DT on some 3rd n longs running like some sort of cheetah package with some stunts and guys dropping back in coverage and spying on the qb. Just some different looks. He's stout as shite. 6-4 260. He's about Duece Gerald's size

? He is nowhere near Deuce Geralds size

I was never impressed with him
The guy from ole miss, now he is a difference maker

Good depth piece.

There is, but I don't know how likely it is.

He has indicated if he is cut and clears waivers, he will come back to LSU. Not sure what LSU is offering if he returns, but an NFL practice squad pays $13,750 per week, which totals $247,500 for an 18-week season.

He seems to have added some pass rush juice in the off-season as well. Him and Princewill could make a nasty Edge Duo

Some of you guys saying these 5th year guys are only for depth are idiots. The DT Harris was all sec in a position we’re looking at possibly starting true freshman. Of course he will play a lot, possibly start once he has more practices in. Dequan Wright is coming back into the same system he was in last year, so has as much experience as anyone, he’s a true Tight end that can block or receive. He had over 600 yds receiving last year. Pyburn led our defensive line in tackles last season and is going to come in in elite shape after trying to make a NFL team. All these guys will play a lot once we know if they’re for sure cleared.

Yeah, I believe the rule is, if you claim someone off waivers, they are on the active roster.
I also think if you pull someone from somebody else's practice squad once the season begins, same thing.
Numbers in preseason isn't always a big thing. You're not playing starters, and you're also looking at how much overall potential a lot more than in-game performance in a sloppy game. Interesting that he was playing LB, that tells me he isn't big enough to be an NFL DE. And I doubt he can cover in space like a LB needs to.
