Mulkey said the same thing and chips fell where they may in her favor when she needed another year before serious expectations.

I don’t expect a NC this year but if you beat FSU and weird things happen and you only lose once in reg season then LSU is in contention. Make the playoff and no telling what happens

BK knows that this roster is not on the same level as Georgia or Ohio State just like Mulkey knew that her roster was not on South Carolina’s level. Of course something crazy can happen like Iowa taking out SC before LSU even has to play them, but the more likely scenario is that Georgia wins bc they’re just better right now.

Maybe it's all coach speak. Or maybe last year surprised her too.

He said he needs one more recruiting year to have his base. Kelly does not want to have to go into the portal like he’s had to the last 2 years. In his own words he wants his team already solidified and use the portal as “icing on the cake”.

We can’t win this year. Look at the last 5 national championship teams, they all have one thing in common

How long has BK been coaching? How many big games he has lost? How many big games he has won? 0. Some coaches are good coaches, not all are championship coaches. Miles got lucky. O hired the right genius. BK will not pan out

Makes sense since Daniels will no longer be the starting quarterback.

Kelly is smart enough to keep fan expectations reasonable , keep from getting undue attention from the competition, and motivating the current team to overachieve.

There will be questions if we don’t seriously compete for a championship this year.

No there won’t be, Ed Orgeron. You freaking are always defending him. What’s your issue? He got 17MM to leave after he burned it all down as most intelligent people predicted.

If that’s what you took from, it means you have an agenda.

You do realize LSU could theoretically go 11-1 and miss out on the playoffs.

Why would he catch any heat for that?

The team BK inherited was in much, much worse shape than what Saban inherited

He’s managing expectations just like Mulkey did. Make no mistake about it, they are competitive this year. They have tremendous talent and an experienced top QB.

Offense
Receivers - Great and deep
RBs - serviceable with depth (good and deep sounded sexual)
TEs - very good, but weak on depth
OL - Great with spotty depth

Defense
DL - Great with good depth
LB - Great but weak depth
DB - Big unknowm. Could be great, and could be disappointing. Safety will be strong. A lot depends on Harris and Welsh at CB

I see an A+ offense and an A- defense. This team is ready to compete for a national championship.

How many scholarship athletes did CBK have on the roster when he took over?

I don’t know. How many did we have in 1952? He has had two years with the transfer portal. That excuse is gone. I expect LSU to be competitive with the top of the SEC this season. I expect them to be a hair behind Georgia and even with Bama and their aging coach. I also think our virtuoso QB can make up the difference with Georgia.
