So he’s intentionally tanking this season by playing Daniels instead?

Kelly isn’t the brightest. Just ask Declan Sullivan.

Are you suggesting Kelly intentionally killed the young man? What an arse you are. You should do a little research into what his family thinks and what they wish idiots on the internet would do. But I'm sure you won't.

quote:

“I understand why they’re angry,” Barry Sullivan said. “Fine, be angry, get over it.”

He is not angry. The question Sullivan is asked often is whether he forgave the university and the principals involved. The answer is yes with a caveat.

“I resist that because to forgive means you’ve assigned blame,” he said. “And not to say this could not have been prevented, but I don’t feel anybody knowingly acted recklessly and caused the accident. Or that anybody in the football program said, ‘We are willing to risk lives for the sake of Notre Dame football.’

“I know that. I’m closer to it than anybody. I wish everyone would take my word for it.”

Good leaders appreciate progress, but still focus on the weaknesses. They are always striving for perfection.

It will be much harder to win in football with all the money being thrown around in recruiting. We don’t have the talent that Georgia has yet. That showcased last year in the SEC championship

We can’t win this year. Look at the last 5 national championship teams, they all have one thing in common

What was that? One thing I see is QBs who outperformed everyone's expectations. You can't really know if that will happen until you've played a few games that season.

Jay could’ve coached until he was 60 at Arizona and never won the big one. Did it in 18 months at LSU. You’re a fricking idiot

How is the DB room looking like this year? Seems like every position group seems to be accounted for except the DB’s or am I wrong.

There will be questions if we don’t seriously compete for a championship this year. With wide open recruiting and transfer portal, can’t use the roster excuse.

No there won't. If you win the West and play for the SEC Championship, you are competing.

I think it’s going to be longer than that to say this team can consistently make it into the top 3-4 teams in the country every year. Which is where we should be and can be but I think that takes at least 4 or 5 years to get there with talented depth across the 2 deep roster.

We absolutely have to land at least 3 to 5 top 20 DL guys every season on average. That includes a rush type DE. So two in coming 6’3 to 6’6 250-315 lb inside guys, one 6’3 to 6’6 245-285 lb balanced edge guy and one 6’3 to 6’5 250-270 lb speed rusher or balanced guy. We have to start getting these types of DL players every season if we want to make consistent runs and be considered a no doubt top 4 school in the nation. We also have to land the top QBs in the country.

Having great WRs, RB, TEs, DBs, and LBs is important but not near as important as it is to have the best DL, OL, and QBs. Basically if we can do the same thing as we’re doing on the OL right now, then we’ll be in that discussion in 3-5 seasons. Any year that we don't land those 3 to 5 top 20 DLman will set us back a year. Now just because they aren’t ranked in the current system as a top 20 recruit doesn’t mean they aren’t, but I trust that our staff will land us those guys.

If we do take DLman that need development then we need to take more numbers and look all over the country for transfers and JUCO players. That’s just how you do it. They compete, get bigger, faster and better then your DL starts to put up good numbers and you can start landing the higher ranked guys the next year or two. You slowly upgrade and maybe you get lucky instate in back to back years and have 3-4 5* DLman to pick up.

But we absolutely need to keep the numbers higher than we have been so one or two injuries don’t hurt as much. Like right now on the OL and at TE, we are in great shape. That’s where we need to be at DL and LB if at all possible. The RB, WR and DB spots, we could literally take Louisiana guys every year and pick up some good to great talent. If this staff can keep the QB, OL, DL, and LB positions with top end talent at the 2 deep then we’ll be there. When that happens, I’ll say we’re there. Until then, it’ll be a year to year thing. Having to fill holes and hit the transfer portal to manage the roster. I’m not saying we can’t win a title this way, we absolutely can but we won’t be able to consistently be in national championship conversations until we have those 4 positions filled with top end talent and be 2 deep with it while also knowing that we can consistently recruit those type of HS players every year. That’s where we can be and what we’ve been waiting for as a fan base. We all want this because we all know it’s very possible for LSU to get done.

Everyone agreeing with Kelly and disagreeing w/ pirate king saying ''we're ahead of schedule.''
Same people who will melt down on the rant if we end up not competing for a natty.

What are we going to do if he fails, the year 2 championship challenge? Fire him and get stuck paying him for the next several years to sit on his arse or chase tail like Coach O. While hiring a new coach for yet another record breaking multi year contract in college football.

I imagine that's mostly coach-speak to keep the players level headed and hungry. Our depth in a lot of places is also not worthy of a championship level.

A couple of injuries along the defensive line would dramatically impact our ability to rush the QB and get off the field on third down.

It's incredibly hard to win a championship without at least some dominant aspects of the defense.

There are people who want the LSU name to defeat the schedule. some sort of idea that "should" when uttered forcefully means "will" or in the OP's case "must".

I'm realistic that several teams on the schedule can beat LSU, while I hope LSU beats every one.
depth on defense looks scary. you get a couple dbs banged up and ole miss will score at will.
and before injuries Florida st is a toss up on game1. Florida state sees this game as make or break to get into the cfp.

only 4 teams get in.
coach kelly pointed to depth as issue.
I hope for most people each game has fun exciting plays. putting it on yourself to find fault if there's no natty is ruining the season. it will take miracle luck, of health and a couple lucky bounces.
