4 years? Why would it take that long? Saban had us in the SEC Championship game Year 2 and he inherited a pretty crippled program in 2000.

The difference is there wasn't the same swath of opposing coaches guiding the other SEC teams.

No it is not. Maybe two. LSU will win a lot of games next year…. Four years to beat Bama And be formidable peer for Bama and Georgia

I think three years for that

I feel the same way. Top 20 for sure next year. New Year's Six next year. Year 3 and on, I expect the Bama game to decide the season, and if we can win half of those, that's a badass program.

This is very reasonable. Good times are ahead for sure. We haven’t had any excitement around the program since we beat Clemson in the natty.

Yes we finally have a professional coach who's methodically cleaning out the problems and adding coaches and players from the state that actually care and take pride in the uniform they wear. It's fricking glorious actually. God bless SW and BK.

The funny thing is none of these transfers have talked to brian kelly.

He seems like more of a person who delegates, which is fine, but it is well known he isn't hands on with recruiting.

Speaking of him, did anyone post the video of him getting hit by the car on here? I know it was on the recruiting board. If not, someone with Twitter should find it and post if possible.
That may be the worst looking accident I’ve ever seen and dude just got up and walked away with a broken arm or something similar to that.

He got hit by a car on a scooter he rented and did probably 6-8 cartwheels at about 15-20 feet in the air. I’d say from the video he flew about 20 feet from where he was hit

Sorry, I don’t believe for one second that the transfers that Kelly offered would sign with lsu before speaking with him first.

He may have other people letting the player know that he’s been offered initially but he’s not getting these guys who are coveted by other programs without speaking to them first.

The lineman from fiu could have gone anywhere he wanted just about , he was the top lineman in the portal . The guys from Arkansas had a bunch of offers as well. They wouldn’t come here without hearing from Kelly personally. Especially with him being a new coach for the program m

The OL is the one position group going to benefit the most.

Well, 2 of them said it.

I watched one interview with joe foucha and heard it directly out of his mouth.

I guess he and his family will talk to him when he gets here.

Kelly is very hands off in recruiting. I've heard it from many notre dame fans.

It's not something that is going to change after all these years.
Some kids feel slighted by not hearing from the head coach.

6-7 didn't seem to bother you this season and 6-6 last season.

Strange for you to throw darts at a guy who hasn't coached in one game yet you dismiss his history of coaching.

I don't believe this at all.

You seem to be inferring that he leaves the recruiting aspect to someone else.

That isn't true. How much he is involved in recruiting.... I can't say but he is involved. He was recruiting players before he even had his staff assembled.

He got one of the best recruiters in the business to come back to LSU. Again, that's not to say he isn't involved but he's hardly "hands off."

Not trying to get into a big thing but you're incorrect in that assessment.

There is no way you can convince me that any player, be it on or off the team (aka a recruit) wouldn't hear from the head coach in some regard.

I actually think it's the opposite. I think he's very vocal and has let it be known what his/the expectations are. I can't see him keeping that a secret.

This is a 4 year rebuild.

Time will tell right? Based on the way Kelly has built his staff and the kids they are pulling in through the portal, I think this is a 3 year build. He's very intelligently bridging the gap with good experience and the right talent through the portal so they have time to recruit the HS players he wants for his system. I think next year it would be reasonable to expect some rough edges as these players come together in a new system. Year two they have more depth of experience and are working the system instead of learning. Year three it really falls into place and this thing gets up to cruising altitude. I think they press into the playoff conversation in year three. I've been really impressed by Kelly's approach to this program. What a difference from our last couple of coaches. I have little doubt there are some really good days ahead for LSU Football.

Kelly is a competent professional, the complete antithesis of Ed O, and the perfect person to clean up the mess that Ed left behind.
