Yeah, When the center went out and Tech rushed up the middle all game long, that was a huge red flag.

“Look, I’ve coached for a long time, had a lot of guys in the NFL, a lot of first round draft picks,” Kelly said Friday at a press conference. “I think I’ve got a pretty good eye for what an offensive line looks like. And this group is going to be really good.”

I translate this to:

"They are a talented group of players, but inexperienced and poorly coached at the moment, but they will be good in the future"

And I have to agree. These aren't scrub recruits. I blame coaching more than anything.

What kind of snake oil salesman do we have here? This quote should be a fireable offense

I've learned that when a head coach goes out of his way to pump up a position in the preseason, you better watch out cause it's potentially a major weakness.

But, your question shouldn't be rhetorical. Someone should really ask this question. They should ask how he was so wrong.

why doesn't someone bring this quote up to him at one of his Monday press meetings?. I'd love to see the look on his face when it is said to him.

That is the most asinine statement he could have made and he should be fired immediately with cause because that proves he doesn't know what the fudge he's talking about!

I’m not one to pile it on any player or coach…but is there any objective evidence he can cite to support the claim that they aren’t bad, much less good?

IKR.

except dinardo could coach o line and had good ones and a great one in 97, 98 was not bad either nor was 96. injuries did the o line in in 99 with bob mcconnell as OC.

this is the worst O line i have ever seen. at least dating back to hallman.

This was remarkably ignorant. So the offensive line would be better with a "half decent" quarterback. Isn't the success of the quarterback and his ability to be at least "three quarters decent" directly correlated and predicated on how much time the offensive line allows him to do his job?

And ‘98, LSU was getting into shootouts.. fricking Tepper.. ‘99 was a dark year.. the ‘99 Auburn game was the most awful game I watched in the Valley. My senior year at LSU.

I see a similar trajectory with Kelly relatively speaking.

i was there and i am a few years older than you. that game blew. that was the cigar game. we printed out photos of auburn smoking cigars on the field and had them hanging at our tailgate in 2001. we burned them after we beat that arse for the SEC west title.

That was the game that DiNardo basically threw Rohan to the wolves?

The thing that has been consistent since he's been here is that he and his staff don't know what good football looks like until they see the other team doing it on the field once the season starts.
