I think brennan will end up pretty good, but it must suck to have to follow what burrow has done this season.

Brennan broke most of Brett Favre's records that were considered unbreakable. He has a cannon for an an arm. Plus a better run game if we get Evans. Love CEH but running will be better and schedule easier. Chase back, great tight end, etc etc. Will be an excellent year and following year even better.

That TD pass to Racy was beautiful, quick release and on a rope. I am not Nostradamus and will not try to predict Brennan's stats, but I feel confident in him and his coaches
abilities to have a successful season next year. I wouldn't be surprised if LSU started to be known as QBU

The good thing for Brennan is I think our run game will be even better next year with Davis-Price, Emery, and Evans. Teams will have to respect the run even more (no disrespect to CEH he’s one of my favorite tigers ever) and that’ll help open things up for Myles even more

...and we are going to have two great TEs. They will be his best friends.

Not to mention JaMarr Chase and (hopefully fully healthy) Terrace Marshall.

The Oline should be better as well. Things are set up for him to do amazingly well.

He’s gonna be a gun slinger for us. He won’t be as accurate on intermediate throws and he will probably make more mistakes than Joe has, but we will be equally as explosive in my eyes. Maybe just not quite as efficient. Which is ok. Lots of deep balls and explosive runs next year

Agreed. He has a cannon of an arm which will allow us to stretch the field and I'm betting deep crossing routes to Chase, Marshall, etc with YAC will be HUGE next season. He needs to take a little off on those shorter throws as he has zipped a few through receivers hands. He'll have a GREAT stable of runners behind him, and play-makers on the edge, slot and at TE. Just run the OFF, and be smart with the ball. Looking forward to hearing about the offseason work he'll put in with Brady and the receivers to get synched-up and start next season at a fast pace during game one.

Maybe. Joe is a transformational once in 25/30 year player that comes along, and they don't grow on trees. Brennan will be under a lot of pressure to live up to unrealistic expectations.

Oooor, be like Baylor was under Art Briles

2011 RG3 72.4% 4300 pass yards 37 TD 6 int, 700 rush yards 10 TD
2012 Florence 61.6% 4310 pass yards 33 TD 13 int, 570 rush yards 10 TD
2013 Petty 62% 4200 pass yards 32 TD 3 int, 210 rush yards 14 TD
2014 Petty (12 games) 63% 3855 pass yards 29 TD 7 int, 100 rush yards 6 TD
2015 Russell/Stidham (10.5 games total because of injury) 62.7% 3370 pass yards 41 TD 8 int, 470 rush yards 8 TD

With the type of talent Louisiana usually produces (skill players), all we need is accurate QBs and we'll be consistent for years to come passing.

Brennan will have the 2nd best season in LSU QB history; however, we will have a much greater run balance with TDP, Emery and possibly Evans running behind a veteran OL. There will be growing pains and impatient fans and unrealistic expectations, but it will be a very good season.

My best guess is we finish top 10 next season with 2 losses and 2021 we are back in the CFP again.

This thread is dangerous and I’m going to get downvoted to oblivion, but the unfair expectations that will be put on Brennan will be outright insane.

I feel for Brennan. Burrow is having a heisman, record breaking year and there will be plenty of LSU fans that are going to lay those ridiculous expectations upon him

No one is saying that fans SHOULDNT have high expectations. But how high expectations certainly should be considered . My expectations for a solid season for a QB would be 3600-3700 yards and with a very high TD/INT ratio difference.

One can not expect to Brennan to match what Burrow has done. Expect him to be solid, but to be a heisman winner and break SEC records?

That’s once in a generation deal.

Completely unfair to Brennan. Especially if there will be a better run game with TDP/Emery/Evans at their disposal. That run game can take away from your passing game, and that’s ok.

He's gonna be good and the defense will be stout. I'm not worried.

You could see from the Texas A&M game that Brennan has a cannon. Second coming of Brett Favre only because he's also from southern Mississippi and he can sling it.

Brennan will be a great player if he learns to put some touch on the ball.

Brennan will have some bumps in the road next year just like any other QB starting his 1st year in the SEC but if we don't give up on him too soon I think he will be in the Heisman talk by his Senior year.

I held my breath on the Mcmath td pass, but it was a perfect pass

His arm strength made that a TD instead of a pick 6. A&M DB thought he was gonna house it, but it went right by him like a Randy Johnson fastball. Kudos to McMath for hauling it in and making the play. It was still a tough catch.

I feel like his passes have so much more zip on them than Burrow. My only concern is his toughness, I think he will do great next year regardless.

I really wish people would stop saying this.

Phrase it however you want to but the point is that guys like Burrow don't come around very often. So to expect another one the following year is setting yourself up for failure.

Burrow wasn’t some can’t miss prospect like Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck.

I just don't think Brennan is as good at reading defenses. I hope I'm wrong though.

Expecting him to duplicate the success of Burrow would be COMPLETELY unfair and unrealistic. Brennan will get his shot to win the job in spring ball, but I don't think the coaching staff is completely sold on him just yet. Remember, this is largely the same staff who (1) watched Brennan play some meaningful snaps in 2017, (2) watched him all through spring practice in 2018 and STILL decided to bring in a transfer (Burrow) late in the game to be the starter. And don't tell me Burrow had to "win the job". He never comes to LSU if the starting job wasn't promised to him. He could have just stayed at OSU to "compete" for the starting job there. And remember, it's not as if Burrow had a ton of meaningful game experience coming to LSU. Hell, I'd argue that Brennan had more meaningful game experience than Burrow at that point.

Certainly one hopes Brennan has used these two years (particularly this season) to soak everything up that he can. But watching and playing are two different things. The two things that make Burrow great are is ability to process things quickly (pre and post snap) along with the ability to navigate the pocket. To a large degree that is an innate skill that can ONLY be honed (if it can be honed) by experience. Does Brennan have it? TBD
