He igas been the opening day starter both years he’s been here. Maybe Jay said you are going to have to compete. I think it could be as simple as that.
Id be surprised if basically EVERY position has to be “WON” every season. Other than a Crews or White type talent everyone competes for a starting spot at programs like LSU.

My son knows him well as my son is a catcher also. He’s thinking Cade goes the draft route but who knows.

I don’t hate him or his game, it’s just not ready to be at this level yet.
And if he would learn to protect his throwing hand when he’s behind the plate, he would have a lot less injuries. Never seen a catcher take so many off the hand

He was lazy as frick at UNC.

He's been given every possible opportunity at LSU, including some opportunities that may not have even been warranted
Which is why I found it very confusing that Moscona kept hinting that he was going to be hitting the portal. The dude was literally given every possible opportunity when healthy to keep his bat in the lineup. Had a good showing in the regional and he still transfers with a clear cut position heading into the season. Nothing more could have been done there.

He wanted to leave last year too. He basically had a foot out the door all year long. His play and effort reflected that.

I never expect these guys to make it to campus but stranger things happen. What’s your son’s opinions of his game? Or your opinion of his game?

Yeah just reading between the lines I have a strong suspicion he threatened to leave last offseason too. Hence why you saw him playing OF when he had no business being there.

Get ready for it. Lester Earl will give weekly recaps of all of our transfers every time Neal gets a hit wherever he goes. He will disguise it as keeping up with all transfers, but really it will just be because of Neal.
If Neal isn't performing, his threads will stop. He did it in basketball with Cook, and look how that turned out.

He did. You had at least 4 players with guaranteed playing time and NIL money. This caused issues within the team. But at the end of the day that’s Jay’s fault. People don’t want to admit it but JJ has to make some changes with the way he does things.

Look it's naptime talking negatively about JJ. Go be a S. Carolina insider.

Telling Neal he will not guarantee playing time seems to fit this.

Genuine question: does the outflow of specific players seem to be evidence of him changing the way he's doing things?

We don’t really know if he told him he wouldn’t guarantee it or if it was a bridge already burned and he wasn’t going to believe it going forward.
What Naptime is saying is that Jay has to quit promising or follow through on the promises. If not, you’ll continuously have a bunch of unhappy players. Whether people like it or not, that’s how things work in the world of high end athletics.

Reading TigerHeart22’s posts… he and the players seem to be confusing “development” with “playing time”
Playing more isn’t the only route to getting better. And if you can’t perform, playing more has negative impacts for yourself and the team. JJ had a million different lineups through the first 8 weeks trying to develop and get the right fit. People got their chances with the most talented getting way more rope than others.
It’s obvious these kids and parents are being manipulated by outside sources. The age old “promise” of the grass is greener still holds true even with NIL in play.

Honestly I think it’s too early to tell but I do think it’s a step in the right direction. Jay may not have wanted Neal to leave but the locker room won’t miss him at all

It will never hit the press, but that was the final straw.

Too many parents don't follow this mantra. It is hurting the players and thus the programs they are associated with.

I compared him to Chase Burns in that way last year with Tennessee. They gave him an avenue to be back at Tennessee, but weren't exactly broken hearted when they didn't have to deal with him (and his agent) anymore.

I agree. He needs to stop winning titles..........

What a moronic statement. A coach can try to put players in the best position to succeed, but cannot force a player to put in the work or effort. I am amazed at the lack of appreciation some people show for coaches like CJJ who come in and right the ship.

1) I agree.
2) NIL and transfer portal are all still fairly new so there is bound to be a learning curve on best practices.
3) Jay hasn't been a HC for all that long so I am sure he is still tweaking his approach to everything in one way or another.
4) Jay is a hard worker and smart coach. Based on demeanor in the pressers thus far, I think he realizes that things have to change and he is making the necessary changes.
