What? The dude played linebacker in college and then coached on the defensive side of the ball before becoming a head coach 30 years ago.

It's like saying Saban is an offensive guy just because he's had good offenses.

He's not getting the majority of the targets because the plays are being called to throw him the ball. He's getting the targets because defenses are so focused on our other skill guys. Boutte is seeing double teams or brackets. Thomas and Nabers are at times too. When teams go man their weakest guy is gonna go to Taylor.

Boutte has checked out but not sure how Bech can be overlooked. Wish they looked to him as they do Taylor

I love when fans make little off the cuff comments like this. Please sir, give us all a full in depth break down of why Denbrocks "little" system doesn't work here.

Our QB cannot get them the ball and our OC cannot design plays to get them the ball. It's ridiculous that Jake fricking Peetz had the ability to do this but not Denbrock.

I'm not a fan of the play calling or the accuracy of our QB's, either, but as far as Boutte goes, he is clearly disinterested.

Some of that is because he's likely bored with the offensive style, but he's dropped about half of the passes that have touched his hands this year, it seems, and you can see his body language. That, I think, makes Daniels want even less to throw to him. Boutte needs to make a decision that he is either going to be a team player and make the coaches and QB's want to get him more involved, or just go ahead and quit. You can't just be a drifter out there.

No more due to the fact he’s out there catching punts and running around at his normal speed in SEC games. It’s football, they’re all hurt at this point.

This isn’t as much of a bad thing as it seems at face value.

Because LSU is 4-1. Imagine if they adjust and try to get them the ball. LSU would only get better.

That's true for most teams though. Almost every defense is going to focus on the skill guys more than the TE, that's not specific to LSU. You have to come up with ways to get them the ball. We have a lot of really good receivers, not all of them are getting doubled every play.

It is sad and concerning. A 3 fold reason for this imo. First, Kelly made a bad hire with Denbrock. His little system make work at Cincy but not with the big boys. Second, As above Denbrock system isn't fit for our league or talent.

5 games in with a QB very limited

Pump the brakes

Denbrock has been successful everywhere he's been

That's where the QB comes into play. We just don't have a good enough one when it comes to throwing the ball. As I stated previously in this thread I get why Daniels is the starter but he's just not very good throwing the football. Tough as nails and fast as hell but just not up to par throwing.

Auburn doubled Boutte and played brackets on Thomas and Bech a good bit. Put their best guy in press man against Nabers and said even if he gets open Daniels will likely miss him. To do this you have to be a guy short in the box and that's why LSU had success running the ball. If LSU had a consistent home run hitter at RB he would have had a field day Saturday night.

I agree. I don't like Boutte's attitude but I can see where he'd be pissed. "I came back for this?"

Pro Football Focus had LSU receivers with 7 drops. Nobody wants to talk about that. That is an issue.

7 and 80 haven’t impressed the coaches enough. Seems simple to me. Why the gnashing of teeth?
