Nothing about the first year gave me a good feeling about the future for LSU hoops, I certainly hope that changes, I want CMM to succeed.

This is a reasonable response, though I am not sure I agree 100%. It is completely understandable.

This should be the response of every LSU fan, I really don't understand why it isn't.

Yep, wish there was something I could point to....but last year was brutal in about every facet.

I've been through years even worse than last year with LSU hoops and I keep coming back, always will.

If Jalen Cook is not eligible, this team is fricked.

Damion Collins: amazing athleticism (had to add links to the vertical leap measuring equipment. More skilled than expected.

Man it’s been almost 2 years. Give it a rest. Maybe go buy a cowboy hat or something. He’s not coming back.

Tiger ugly is right there was zero indication for hope last year.

I hate mcbasement but would love for him to prove me wrong. I want him to be a winner, I just don’t see it with how boring he comes off how stiff he is and how bad last year was.

He doesn’t give me the Jay Johnson student of the sport committed to excellence vibe or the excitement of wade.

I believe the team is more talented this year overall.

But the real one thing to point to is that all the allegations and looming punishments are behind McMahon and the LSU basketball program. This year should be better but the true test for McMahon’s time here at LSU is how does he recruit without that cloud over the programs head. If he still struggles then he won’t last long.

Last season was Johnny Jones level bad and I expect this year to be more of the same. Maybe Mid McMahon is getting it together recruiting wise, but he has a lot to prove. Last season was so terrible.

I'm not in that camp, but I understand it. It's extremely rare for a successful coach to be fired. It almost never happens. Yet, it happened to Wade.

That's where the resentment comes from.

Usually when a coach is fired, the fans are the ones calling for his head. That was not the case here.

I see the McMahon defense force has arrived to praise their infallible leader.

Yeah I'm sure him not getting much playing time had nothing to do with him being behind national player of the year and 2 time rebounding leader Oscar Tsciebwe

Bryce Hopkins couldn't get on the floor at Kentucky either. He transfers to Providence and puts up 16/9/2 last season en route to a spot on the 1st team Big East team. Kentucky is often a stacked deck of young talent. Now, that talent is supplemented with transfers. They aren't playing as many young players as they used to.

That's not to say Collins will be an All SEC player this season. But I would wait to see how he looks in a new environment before completely writing him off. He's the guy with the best NBA measurables on the team. LSU doesn't need him to be a 15/10 player. They really just need him to be a Kavell Bigby Williams type player. (defense, rebound, dunks/put-backs)

If this team has Cook (and I'm not confident they will), the backcourt could be one of the better groups in the league. Cook/Stewart have experience and the ability to score. Tyrell Ward showed flashes last season when McMahon FINALLY decided to give him meaningful minutes. That looked to carry over during the games in the Bahamas. The frontcourt will have experience. Can they put things together will be the question.

This is an "old" team relatively speaking. 9 of the 13 players are Juniors/Seniors/Grad Students. McMahon is hopeful more maturity will produce better results. He's used to having success with older teams. If Cook is eligible, there's no reason LSU shouldn't be able to compete to be in the top half of the league in what may be a weaker SEC compared to last season. If he's not, things will be much tougher. Still, the SEC schedule isn't (on paper) as brutal as the last two seasons, and the Tigers will be tested in the non-conf. schedule much more than they were last season.

Neither the team, nor McMahon are going to get the benefit of the doubt going into the season. They will have to earn it
