Okay. Disregard his one year as USC. He's still vastly more qualified than Rousse

So do we wait for purple or gold smoke?

McNeese certainly isn't flashy, but it serves its purpose for the area and has real practical programs that work with local employers and organizations to employ people in necessary fields.
exactly. The whole point of the university is to produce grads that are employable in fields that actually matter. Its not to just get grants and unlimited funding from the Federal gov
and Wade has a ton of success in the private sector and built & sold businesses.

I knew this was going to be the argument but it is fairly irrelevant to this.
The only thing relevant is how they have performed at the highest levels of University Administration

That nursing student guy is such a tool. Liberals white male void of testosterone.

Are kids still getting in without having to take the ACT or SAT? If so, what % of the student body are these kids?

I'm not saying these things aren't good, but what plagues Louisiana and, by proxy, LSU is the brain drain due to a state run by inept governors, city councils, and good old boy systems fueled by people that, quite frankly, the state would be better off if they passed away.
It's going to take a lot more than an LSU president to fix that. Additionally, a political hire isn't helpful in that area either. You said it right here...city councils, mayors, etc. Those are the things that get jobs. Without those people promoting, it will stay the same.

Not to be the "ackchuallly" guy but research is the primary purpose of a R1 land, sea, and space grant school. It doesn't exclude the fact that the majority of undergraduate students are interested in career readiness, though.

Again, I'm not arguing that Rousse should not be LSU's next President or that he would not do better than his predecessors. I'm simply responding to the poster claiming that his resume was impressive. It's not when put into context of our previous presidents.

They could hire a door knob for all I care as long as they raise admission standards and bring back ACT testing.

Jeff, is that you?
yea thats it, i secretly registered on here 25 years ago to wait for this moment
or it could be....i happen to think very highly of Rousse. and i get tired of the dumbass academic types that scream.....must have experience running a university like LSU.
as if running businesses that are extremely successful is so much easier than being a career academic type. and they act like the president is involved in the day to day items like grants.
and Rouse is going to end up being over the whole system. We will have a Chancellor over the BR main campus anyways

depends...do you put more weight into private business experience or academic admin experience?
I put way more into private business success. I think the academic types are the ones that cant be successful in business and its why they are in academics....at least in 80% + of cases.

This is so wrong. If that's all you want, we could have a Flagship Trade School.
A leading University is to push the world, country, state, community all forward. Innovation, progress, solutions, etc. This take critical thinking minds. The process of questioning, experimenting, solving is a lot more than just being "employable".

yes, they must.
They are being hired to...run an academic system

You just said this:
Which shows that you see these universities as trade schools.
If the guy you’re pushing agrees with that general philosophy, I hope he is not the pick.

The Board isn't changing so I wouldn't expect any of this to change.

As opposed to degree factories and liberal ideology agendas?

thats fine but that is not what 99% of the undergrad students care about or even know anything about.
want to get LSU back on track from an academic standpoint? it starts with the emphasis of admission standards and brining back the act requirement. then it moves to funding and emphasis in both the teaching and research side of the areas we do well in like engineering and other stem departments.
you drive enrollment through athletics, the student experience. all you have to do is do exactly what Alabama did when saban was there. use athletics, greek life and overall student experience to recruit better students
and go out and fund raise which, along with financial stability, will be Rouse's main objectives.
