Four consecutive complete game victories is hard to top. Teams were back pitching to him just like they are with Skenes. I ll say Nola had the best career but Skenes has the best year.
Nola was a finalist for the National Pitcher of the year in 2013 and won it in 2014. Skenes will win it this year.
Nola LSU career numbers
30–6 record and 2.09 ERA in 332 innings, with 42 walks and 345 strikeouts

Nola pitched in dead ball era
What Skenes is doing with these current balls is other worldly

Nola was at least as good as Skenes, dead ball era or not. Maybe better. Dude was an Ace for an MLB team, maybe still is.

I looked back at stats recently, and I forget what happened his last year. The year before he left (CWS Champs), he was as good as just about anyone.
I was both very surprised and disappointed that he never found a spot in the bigs.

Nah, that’s not how it works. Nola was great but he isn’t Skenes
Nola’s Jr year, there were .78 HRs hit per game
This year there have been 2.25 per game
Sorry, but you can’t just said ‘dead ball or not’

Why are you putting apostrophes in his name?

What makes you think Nola wouldn’t have dominated in this era too?
Posted on 5/25/23 at 12:59 pm to GeauxxxTigers23
I didn’t say he wouldn’t be good or even dominating.
But the sheer amount of balls put in play vs Skenes would affect the amount of hits & runs he gives up if the balls were like they are now.

Nola would pitch complete games, so I give him the nod
Good point. LSU would have won the SEC if Skenes would have closed out some of those games early in instead of letting the BP handle

Didn't put the numbers up but Gausman's stuff in his sophomore year was electric.

Hard to beat Aaron Nola's back to back SEC pitcher of the year run. But Skenes could have the best individual season but hard to overtake what Nola did. Ben also had more than 1 season of elite production.

I love Paul Skenes, but he has been at LSU for only one season. Ben M. is our best pitcher ever, IMO.

As good as Ben was his junior year and Skenes is this year and Peaver his only year, Nola as a career was probably the best. He was better as a freshman and far better his sophomore year than Ben. While Ben was better as a junior, Nola was first team all american and best pitcher in the country.
