With all of the scrutiny and hating many have done on this LSU baseball team this could be on of Coach Jay Johnson’s best jobs.Sure we took our lumps and have had our lows, but considering this is a new team, and the expectations we have put on them after winning the CwS we have improved drastically and the future looks bright. We gonna be a tough out if we get in. Even if ya you’re not happy about this season you can’t overlook how much we have improved and fought in the second half of our SEC schedule. Kudos to Coach Johnson, now let’s go out there and give whoever we play hell no matter how the chips may fall.

What if the constant juggling of the lineup and pitching roles led to the 3-12 start to SEC play?

Agreed

We played tougher competition in the early part of SEC play. We are a middle of the pack SEC team this season and that’s how it played out. Lost to the elite teams and beat the bad ones with a few upsets in there both ways.

Our fans can be the worst at times but with that said Coach Johnson is definitely one of the best ones out there. Dude lost alot but still did one hell of a job.

Disagree entirely. We underperformed. I think we mismanaged the bullpen a lot of weekends and that ended up costing us a few games. I also don't think Jay did enough to manufacture offense and get out of DP situations when our offense wasn't performing well. I also think Jay did a bad preseason evaluation of a lot of the talent on this year's team. Jay is a tireless worker and I'm sure he would tell you he wishes he had done some things differently this year. I expect him to learn from this and be back in contention quickly

Love the ones calling Coach Johnson another Ed O. I do believe his whole body of work has been pretty good. I haven't heard of skank's kids being around Alex box during the season also.

The schedule was definitely front loaded. Very unbalanced. We could have won the State, Vandy and Florida series.

Water under the bridge at this point. All that matters is how they play going into Late May. Which seems to be good so here we go.

I get the whole thing about our first half being loaded and send half being watered down. But we still beat Aggie 2 out of 3 in a must win series and this is the SEC, you don’t come to play and any team can beat ya so us beating mid tier and bottom tier SEC teams should not be undervalued. On top of that, our season ain’t over, don’t give us a reason to invade your city with purple and gold, believe it or not, the fact of knowing LSU is in your region scares the shite out of a lot of teams. Maybe we bow out early, but us making a lot of noise wouldn’t and shouldn’t surprise anyone. I’ve seen that tiger magic happen way to many times

He did make several coaching decisions that people didn’t understand or care for throughout the entire season.

We lost to Florida and Vandy at home in the first few weeks of SEC play.

Those teams both finished 13-17 in SEC play.

I mean, I’d say it’s great that he brought in kids that have pride and didn’t give up on the season and their god given talent, but he has been all over the place trying to figure out how to right the ship all year long. So not really.
I’d also say this, I hope it was a learning lesson for him and he grew as a coach and it never happens again.

Perhaps what they did was learn how to win during the season. We waited to win early on, and got waxed.
As the season went on, we learned to buckle down when it counted.

I will never consider a season in which the team barely makes the postseason a coach’s best. Especially when that coach has a NC on his resume. That’s a foolish thing to say.

Especially the ones that sit on their arse for 2 Seasons after winning a National Championship.

It's Louisiana State University of the Southeastern Conference.

All the resources are available to win a NC and then keep the program going at a high level!

If you can't do that, you're not LSU HC material.

Shite or get off the Royal Purple & Canary Yellow pot. (JJ got 2025 to fix it all and get the program back to where it should be)...........

The vast majority of this fanbase blames/credits "coaching" in a lot of situations where the actual difference was a bounce here or there.

Also, they're constantly bemoaning play/pitch calling without even knowing what the calls were.

So let’s revisit this post I made last week, has opinions changed about this not being his best coaching job? In most cases and sports id agree that it can’t be when you have a sub par regular season like we did, But this is baseball, and your team is peaking at the right time, improved drastically, and yeah there were some head scratching moves made. Let’s say we get to supers or CWS, is that enough to validate that this is indeed his best coaching job?
