Landry is a well-connected NFL guy who is well respected in football circles.

And a self promoting blowhard. But no reason to believe he's making this shite up.

Fair enough, but that's true for any news sports or otherwise.

It's not like we're talking about some "secret meeting" though. It was well-documented the meeting took place. Now we're finding out exactly what was said in that meeting and beyond.

With the most recent titles being 1983 and 1995 respectively.

I am not listening to the audio, but someone already called you out for this:
quote:

Our athletic director is now watching film with the head coach on Sundays, and directing the offense and defense in the background.
is this actually said on the audio as factual?

Yes, it is.

And supposedly confirmed through the coordinators with Landry's sources (2 confirmations with one coordinator and a separate confirmation with the other coordinator).

I don't think Alleva is "calling plays" per se (let's hope not), but it's clear he's intervening in the HeadCoach-OC-DC coaching leadership structure in very unprecedented fashion as far as college football is concerned.

Landry even spoke to Barry Alvarez about it and relayed his thoughts on it.

The guy earlier that says my post is untrue is playing Tomato/Tomatoe game. Call it what you want, but Alleva is in meetings with coordinators and head coach deciding how this team is going to be run the rest of the way. I think fans deserve to listen for themselves and make their own judgments.

I have listened as well and this is correct. as far as scouting/coaching sources (especially LSU) i believe chris landry is as reliable as it gets.

Thank you sir and to Salviati for pointing this out. I have listened to the podcast 3 times and NO WHERE in it does Mr. Landry say "directing the offense and defense in the background"

Let everyone listen for themselves... I can guarantee you Alleva doesn't want fans listening to that podcast of how this is playing out behind the scenes, because it is an absolute disaster management-wise.

I agree that Alleva should have handled it better. Like Chris Landry said, it probably would have been better for Alleva to go to Orgeron and then Orgeron go to his coordinators.

However, Orgeron had already broken his promise not to interfere with his coordinators. He promised that he would let his coaches coach. Maybe Alleva felt the need for immediacy. Maybe Alleva felt he couldn't trust Orgeron to do what he promised to do.

As a matter of fact, Joe is that you? Anyone that would defend Joe on this topic is either close to his camp or Joe himself.
A little early for ad hominem isn't it.

You're the one spewing bullshite about Alleva directing the offense and defense when, in fact, he did the exact opposite by telling Orgeron to let the coaches coach . . . like Orgeron promised to do when he got the job.

Second hand info says that Alleva reminds Orgeron that the Coordinators are in charge of their respective sides, as was widely reported when they were hired.

JPLSU reports Alleva is INTERFEERING.

JPLSU has an agenda. Period.

I listened to the podcast. I believe what Chris Landry said in it. I believe what the coordinators told the the people who talked to Chris Landry.

The problem here is that neither Chris Landry nor the coordinators said that Alleva is directing the offense and defense in the background.

Abso-frickin-lutely!

Joe Alleva deserves to be fired. This is YET ANOTHER reason he should be fired. I'm not reporting anything ... Chris Landry's podcast is linked for all to listen to.

If you don't believe he deserves to be fired, I respectfully disagree and don't really understand what you're not seeing when it's all out there for all to see.

Well, out of respect, I have changed the wording:

"directing the management of the offense and defense in the background."

I don't know what else to say, because that is exactly what Landry reports is going on. You're parsing words and getting caught up on exact words ... and potentially missing the story here.
