Jones is young but still batting 313 after 10 games with six extra base hits ( in spite of the high no. of strikeouts. SEC pitching will tell the tale.
He’s actually down to .286 and has 18Ks in 43 PAs (35 ABs). I want the kid to excel but I wouldn’t expect those numbers to improve against SEC pitching.

The lineup and starters will be ever evolving throughout the year. We are so deep we dont need any set it stone 9/10 guys.
Jones might get replaced by Beloso today in the lineup with how hot Beloso has been and how cold Jones has been and if he carries things well they may keep him there. If not, Jones will probably get another shot again.
Fact is we really dont have to settle long for any player struggling in the lineup because someone else can step up and produce in their place. Why leave a struggling guy in for too long when you know you got someone else itching to do something on the bench and is a talented guy themselves basically.

Jay is notorious for wanting guys to play through their struggles. I think Jones should have sat yesterday. I think Jay has to sit him today, and will.
I think inevitably Jones finds his way back into the lineup and does well, but the door's open for others to get 1B/DH reps now.

Not so sure I agree with this especially this year. This is easily his deepest team ever and he's been making moves constantly already.
Nippolt was on bench the last 2 games who has struggled at plate, he's played around with Jobert/Kling/Pearson in the OF (and even at 3B in place of Nippolt in Jobert's case). If he makes a Beloso/Jones move today or this week that would be another.
Nobody else has really struggled enough to get shuffled

Crews, Dugas, White, Thompson, Morgan and Neal are starters every game (well losing some starts for Neal due to rest at catcher)
The other 3 spots have been experimented with or probably will be in Jones' case.

For those keeping track, Arkansas has now had three pitchers exit a game with an injury this week. Brady Tygart, Jake Faherty and now Koty Frank.

I know Tygart is their closer and is out 6-8 weeks or something, how about the other 2? Faherty is whatever, he only made 1 appearance this year and 1 appearance last season.
Frank was a very high leverage reliever though, 6 appearances in 11 total games already with 11.2 IP. If he is out for any real length of time Arkansas is really hurting in the pitching department losing him, Tygart and Wiggins.

Beloso is going to get reps on certain matchups with Jared Jones getting the other reps at DH once White returns to 3B.

Jones was 1/10 with 6 Ks and started again yesterday.
Jobert went a stretch of 2/20 last season.
The point is, Jay generally gives them every chance to pull themselves out of struggles in game. It's time for Jones to take a rest.

Jesus, save something for the post season Dave. No wonder this kids arm fell off, he's being put in a woodchipper.

He will play outfield in mlb.
Which will have almost nothing to do with him being a better OF than 1B.

Yes we do. We got an update yesterday during the broadcast that they think he will be back playing 3rd as early as this next weekend. If not, soon after

So like I said, we have no idea when White will return to playing third.

You don’t need elite defense at a spot where the most outs in a game happen?
The difference might be that “elite” at first base just doesn’t make that big a difference unless the rest of your infield kind of sucks.
Being elite in the outfield makes a big difference no matter how good you are everywhere else.
