Bronzini being stretched out? 59 pitches and nearly 4 innings is a hefty workload right now.

No Primeaux this weekend right?

Thanks for the stats/recap Scuba!

I can confirm that he didn't throw Friday or Saturday. Looks like he didn't today as well. If I remember correctly from the player interviews on Friday morning, it sounded like they scrimmaged on Thursday. Maybe he threw with the first group of pitchers then along with Hurd, Holman, Ack etc?

I heard Coach Johnson say in one his many talks this past week that they were planning on starting to strech some pitchers out this weekend. Bronzini and Hellmers threw more pitches than anyone else, so far.
Also, if any of you serious posters have questions for coach, let me know and I'll try to ask him this Tuesday night.

Thanks Scuba.
Not a question for CJJ, but for you: anything standing out good or bad so far?

I have been impressed with both position player transfers based on what I saw in fall and this spring, both Braswell and Bingham look like starters to me.
All four transfer pitchers; Jump, Holman, Woods, and Loer will pitch alot of innings for us this season.
As for the freshmen, I really like Brown, Mitchell, and Kucherak as position players. Freshman pitchers who look like potential stars are Johnson, Anderson, and Lape.
It looks like Pearson's move to 2nd will be at least as successful than Dugas' last season.
With the transfers and the freshman pitchers mentioned earlier, The staff will be deeper and as talented overall as last year. There has been improvement with some of the returning pitchers as well.
I think we will see this team be more agressive on the bases and also more "move the runners up" oriented this season than last season. We have less HR pop but more players capable of playing this style of ball, IMO.
On the negative side, some of our players I thought may show improvement haven't to this point. Hopefully this will change during the season.
Take all this with a grain of salt as these are just another fan's observations. I am looking forward to this season and think we will do well against our schedule.

Lape
I hope so too but what has he shown while being injured?

Good info. Some of our freshmen position players may get more playing time than some of our 2nd year position players.

I'm not basing my opinion on Lape's performance at LSU but rather pre injury information.

Who are some of the bigger personalities in the dugout this year? We’ve all beat to death the X’s and O’s of the game so far, but we are going to have to replace a ton of leadership in the dugout for this coming season. Who do you see carrying that torch?

Alex Milazzo and Hayden Travinski have the most experience of any players on this year's team and seem to be natural leaders along with Tommy White.

Kling starting where he left off. No hits yet. O for 5 with 3 k’s. Lot of hype with this guy, but hasn’t shown the ability to put the ball in play consistently. Too much speed to strikeout as much as he does. Put it in play and use some speed. Pulling for the guy. Struggles. List starting job after the 2nd weekend last year and was an occasional defense sub.
