He felt like he needed a different situation.
I wonder what that was? Was he unhappy with the staff? Other players? Promised more money elsewhere?

hopes he finds what he is looking for.
Sounds like someone got into his ear or something and made him unsettled

We need Louisiana kids mixed with the elite players from California, Texas, and Florida

For fun I randomly picked checked Miss State (10) and Arky's (9) roster and they have about the same amount of local state players as we (10) do.

I think it's just the way it is is today's college baseball landscape as most SEC schools can recruit nationwide.

What does Mavrick Rizy and Cam Johnson have in common?
their teams are in the college world series?
Added Mason Braun who will be at Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League. Will be good that he gets reps against quality opposition

edit: added Serna as well. He'll be at Y-D Red Sox in the Cape as well

No Serna or Bide?
Most of the rosters on the summer ball team's websites aren't up yet or aren't finalized so I'm going off of limited info. Takes a lot of time going through each league's team's roster :(

2026 Tigers Summer League Ball Thread

Cape Cod League
Gavin Guidry (Chatham Anglers)
Reagan Ricken (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox)
Ethan Plog (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox)
Omar Serna, Jr (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox)
Mason Braun (Cotuit Kettleers)

Pacific Empire League
William Patrick (Healdsburg Prune Packers)
Jack Ruckert (Healdsburg Prune Packers)

Please let me know if I forgot anyone or need to update. I didn't include any others that are transferring like Clauss in the Northwoods (though I can add them in)

Figured that we could keep all convos about those playin gin summer leagues here so it's easier to track progress and stats

Such a bummer. I know he's not shown much or had a lot of reps yet but hate to see them leaving like this. Granted we aren't sure what's going behind the scenes so always hard to determine whether it's a Jay or Clauss thing

I still think Schmidt and Evans would be better (statistics-wise) if our defense wasn't at t-ball level. Those guys from previous years had great defense which definitely helped their numbers slightly, not to take away from their dominance though.

14th in ERA while leading the league in Ks doesnt even seem possible

That's called terrible defense

Most of our problems are wild pitches, not passed balls
I would love to see stats on that because I don't think it's true. The number of very blockable pitches or simply pitches that should be caught but hit the backstop is surely higher than wild pitches
Brother the rantards don't like it when you curse the shift. It supposedly works everytime. Until it doesn't

There's about 20 high schools in Louisiana that could play better infield than this team

I couldn't catch the game but from what I did see of Yamin, he looked like a big improvement defensively, though his throws down to first base were iffy.

If JJ can figure out how to get the combo of Serna, Bide, and then Braun playing regularly and in meaningful ways - I would love to see that in the future.

And to top it all off, Yamin actually hit the ball decently well which was a great surprise.

but it only takes a couple guys getting hot at the plate and pitching improving.

Pitching for sure can improve based alone on the BB we give each game. But the passed balls, preventing stolen bases, and bonehead defensive plays is killing us. That sort of stuff gets lumped into "pitching needs to improve". My point is we are just not playing well in almost every facet of the game.

We still complaining about the shift I see?

Are you still defending the shift that, on average, doesn't work out in the defense's favor?

Oh look, a leadoff runner scoring.

What a concept.

Never would have happened had we not done the stupid shift
