Only reason for putting the runner back at third would be because one of the umpires called an out which in theory would have made LSU slow up.
ETA: Maybe they must be treating it as a virtual dead ball at the point the umpire called the out, whether that’s a judgement call or rule I’m not sure.

I think the 2nd base ump called out. Which caused confusion so they sent him back on the account of “umpire error”
