Bama d line, Florida d line, A&M d line, Please, I’ve heard enough about Clemson’s d line. Clemson, a very good program in a mediocre conference.

Barion Brown had 3 TDs against Clemson

Yeah, you see I did my homework. Kentucky doesnt have nearly the caliber of WR has LSU does this year. Barion is going to get into quite a few 1v1s with no safety help. Mans got the moves to get loose and run free!

Quick passing game wins this one. Neutralize the D Line.

Two or three deep shots when the safeties creep up. We have the speed to really handcuff their dudes.

If Nuss is sacked 6 times we are unlikely to prevail.
Joe Sloan can overcome the potential OL Shiteshow by instituting his version of Da Joe Brady Offense by having Nuss get that fricking ball out of his hand very fast.

Get it out fast and the OL won't have to hold their blocks long.

Just way too many "Receiving Options" on this team to try any kind of "Running Game Establishment" against Clemson on the Road.

Come out firing away to the WR's, TE's and RB's....... .

I think the defenses make it a push game. Special teams finally gets back to right and Brown or Thomas leaves Clemson a superstar. Geaux Tigers.

Bro 6 sacks is a lot. 3 would be the number. Getting sacked 4-6 times is a lot. Nuss was only sacked 6 times once last year and that was against Florida and we saw how that turned out. We need to keep Nuss upright. That would be 3 or less sacks. I mean damn

Nuss was sacked more than twice in one gams last year, Florida.
0 sacks - 6 games (1 loss to USCw)
1 sack - 1 game
2 Sacks - 5 games (2 losses to Bama & aTm)
7 sacks - 1 game (1 loss to Florida)

if our OL can keep pressure off Nuss, our WRs against their DBs could very well be a mismatch

Dont be surprised if in our first series or two a WR screen gets called and we house it for a TD.

Blocking at TE was average and it was pretty weak at WR beyond a couple of guys last season. We lost Daniels, but Parker is back. Nic Anderson should also help us here and hopefully Hilton is adequate, as well. It’s harder to say with him as little as we’ve seen him play at full speed over the last two seasons.

We need this to improve for the screen game to be effective and we absolutely need that to be working reliably this year. That’s a great way to help take some pressure off the OL and keep the defense guessing.

I tend to agree, but I do think if these sacks are spread out and not on 3rd down, we can still overcome. I mean, we gave up 6 to Florida last year and while we didnt win, we were still tied going into the 4th. We could have won that game.

I’m not sure if I would use that game as an example, especially considering UF was bottom 3 in the SEC in sacks going into the game. The OL injuries really killed us in that one.

7 WRs that will play in this game, plus 2 TEs. Match up nightmare.

I just can’t reasonably believe we play 6 to 8 linemen and 7 WR’s in there first game without numerous pre snap penalties that cost us this game.

I wonder if other fans hype up our old players the way we do.

Think of it like playing pier more than a negotiation.

I’m sitting on a hand that I’m not sure is good. And you are telling me that it’s going to be a coin flip.

Sometimes a coin flip is the best spot to be in.

If you have reason to believe the OL is going to pass protect well, I understand why you might think 6 sacks would be really bad.

I see it as bad…but maybe good enough to win.

Yeah, we have almost zero chance of giving up 5 sacks and coming out of there with a win. “Under 6 sacks” is an absurdly low and unrealistic bar for the OL to give up and expect a win. 5 sacks probably means 10+ pressures, which would mean we’re in 2nd and 3rd and long all night, which will likely lead to a couple of picks.

Somebody mentioned “the Joe Brady offense” (like “his offense” is the only one that has the QB get rid of the ball quick). The offense we run is just fine. Nuss is actually really good at getting the ball out quickly. We talk about how good our OL was last year in pass pro, and they were. Just look at how few sacks we gave up the entire year.

HOWEVER, a lot of that was Nuss getting rid of the ball quickly, and not just throwing it away to avoid sacks. I saw/heard some stat where Nuss was either lead the country or was 2nd in either competition % or QB efficiency on plays where he was pressured. So he was not just getting rid of the ball quick to avoid sacks, he was actually completing passes.

And with another year under his belt, there’s no reason not to expect that to be just as high if not higher. So if they bring a lot of pressure, but don’t get home, with the speed we have at WR, that should make for a ton of explosives. One thing we haven’t really talked about is dropped passes. We can’t afford many, if any. Especially if they’re turning long TDs into punts.

18 sacks. Compare that to 2019, when Burrow was sacked 34 times. I saw a graphic from some anonymous NFL scouts.
