If O-line can handle the rush and decently run block = 10

We have Nuss and a good transfer class. Also, It seems to me like they didn’t really beat many good teams last year. I think they were 0-3 against the SEC so hopefully they are a little overrated. Other than that, it’s an odd feeling to think you should be able to make the playoffs, but you will lose week one which I think are both fair expectations.

History will tell you we will underachieve in first game. We’ve lost to lots worse teams at neutral sights in past. I can’t see us winning this game. Hope I’m wrong.

I mean..... LSU is due to win an opening game right? But it's at Clemson so I'm gonna say my confidence is kinda low.... but they are due right? Clemson has 5 projected first rounders and a solid veteran QB.... but LSU is due right?

Sir, this is postseason baseball season.

Doesn't matter. LSU football rules, even in June.

Yeah, I have that confidence level as well, it's a big monkey off our back game and, should we beat Clemson, I think the public writ-large will start to really look at this LSU team in the same light they looked at 2019 which will be awesome for us

The game against Clemson has strong ramifications for post season play. Very good Clemson team; however, Nuss is second in best odds to win the Heisman. Vegas doesn't just throw those odds out. May be a special year for the Tigers.

I think we can beat Clemson if our highly paid defense can hold up, we have the horses it's time for Baker to earn his salary.

I think this game comes down to how well our OL gels and plays.

They are going to score some. Will we be able to keep up?

I am a college football roadtrip fanatic. Been to almost all of the SEC schools and seen the Tigers play at Notre Dame, Arizona State, Washington among others.

I loathe neutral site games because it defeats the purpose of college football and I have never been to one and never will. I’ve been so looking forward to going back to a normal home and away series with another college football powerhouse.

Clemson is one of those schools I’ve always wanted to go to. I’m not going if this answers your question. If we had won at least one of the last few home openers I would make the gamble but to me it’s not worth the chance of going with the recent track record.

I do look forward, however, to going to Norman at the end of the season.

I think folks are sleeping on how much we've upgraded the talent level on our team, it's significant in frontline and in depth.

But I am worried about our 0-line - not necessarily the talent level but their inexperience in playing together against probably the best position group on their team by all accounts.

I'll say 6 as well.

For the last 5 openers, I really thought we would win.

Here's how I'd break them down:

1 - Mississippi State - we had better talent and lost worse than the score indicated - total fail.

2 - UCLA - See no. 1.

3 - Fla. St. - I thought the talent was comparable that year, they had a week zero game and we did not which I think was significant, we did not hit our stride until late in the game. Missing and extra point I'll still never accept.

4 - Fla. St II - I thought this was the only of the 5 where the other team had better overall talent - albeit IMHO not as bad as the score - and I thought we outplayed them in the first half. We did not really understand yet how bad we were on defense, we would find out - but the butt whipping in the second half was very disappointing.

5 - USC - we had better talent and look, I'm not a BK hater but we got outcoached. There was an open pass on our last drive that if Nuss hits we probably go in to score a TD, run some more clock and win, but all teams can play that game in close one's, no excuse to lose.

I echo many of the responses on here. I just hard to believe that LSU has lost 5 straight openers - and it hasn't really mattered whether it was Kelly or Orgeron who was the head coach.

What is in common on all 5 of those games is this - each of our opponents had already played a so-called "Week Zero" game. All were against mediocre to weak teams which gave our opening opponents confidence coming into games with us. We still had first game jitters.

It does not appear that Clemson has a "Week Zero" opponent ahead of our game. That might make some difference.
