You think they were beating Anderson and eyanson the next day? Ark had zero good pitching left

The grounder was hit to the SS right and he had to turn toward third to glove it. So his body wasn’t in aligned to make an easy throw to second base. Would it have been in time at second? Maybe so but it probably wouldn’t have left enough time to get the runner at first at least that was what he had to have been thinking.
Nope. Go to the 13:40 mark of the video and you will see the short stop field the ball with both feet squared up. He almost didn’t have to move to field the ball. You cannot hit an easier double-play ball to a shortstop. In his mind he should have pretended there was not a runner at 2nd base bc that run was inconsequential. It literally meant nothing to the outcome of the game.

Not true at all

The line drive to LF was absolutely smoked with topspin. Not sure but the sun might have been in play.
It was 9pm

It was going to be a hard play to convert which is why he whiffed.
It hit him, all he has to do is collect himself a bit after the fall, and its still a relatively easy play, that ball gets caught at least 8/10 times

This was the best quote by far......
I’m convinced Jerry Jones made some sort of deal with the devil to make the Cowboys good in the 90s at the cost of his soul and the collective souls of the Arkansas fan base.
This works for me.

The pressure to win in Omaha gets a little higher with each loss.
I don’t celebrate suffering of other fans though(except for alabama frick them).

64% of the time, they win every time.

Most people think that ball to left field went off of the LF’s glove when it actually went off his shoulder. That must have hurt like hell later that night.

I think most people didn’t think it hit his glove based on how far the ball went after hitting him.

the coach wasn't the biggest culprit. Those mistakes were on the Arkansas players. All everthing Short stop screwed up. Left fielder blew out a tire on a very hard dipping/ curving ball hit by Luis H. VAn Horn had nothing to do with those mistakes.

He should have had them in no doubles defense. The ball would have dropped. It was directly on Van Horn.
I spoke with a long time umpire from the big 12, who cut his teeth in the Southland Conference, and he stated that Van Horn is one of the biggest assholes in the sport. He is a sore loser.

Meh. They all but won THAT GAME. But they still would have to have beaten us again
And we would have absolutely been favored in the next game with the pitching situations. Not sure why that gets lost.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Had the 3rd baseman knew it was coming to him, he had a chance at first.

This. People will say it's not DVH, it's the players not executing. This is true it an extent, but I also think players are a representation of their coaches. Look at how players respond to Jay's moves. Jay looks like an absolute savant with the way he manages the game and his team always responds to this which is why LSU has 2 titles in 3 years. Both title run years it seemed like every move he made during postseason was perfect. They always picked up in clutch time.
You would think it's a lot of luck but anyone who watches Jay make moves at how he manages the game will see it's the norm for him. Enjoy it while we can there's definitely no better coach right now. DVH is a good coach, I just think his teams come up short because they're a representation of his identity.

Don’t leave him unattended in the ocean by himself.

There comes a point in a season- in the most pressurized of moments- when champions simply don’t choke. They make the plays. They just weren’t a championship team. A very good team- yes.
I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the answer. I do believe DVH gets too tight in these games and his players reflect that.
Nevertheless, go back and watch the first game with Arky in the CWS. We scored a run in that game from 2B with a hit to shallow/middle LF. He made a clean pick up and fired the ball home. It was a great throw, right up to the point that the cutoff man caught it. You could see the catcher look at him after the play and throw up his hands. One of the announcers called it right. “It’s simple, cutoff man positions himself between the outfielder and the catcher. If it comes to him, step out of the way. If not, go catch it.”
They made a lot of blunders in both games.

quote:Yea, that's probably how Bama felt when Yeldon scored. Or the stupid penalty against Alexander. It's all fun and games until that crap happens to your team. We've had plenty of pain vs Bama. Arkansas had two of the worst breaks I've ever seen in college baseball in that last game. I wouldn't be too hard on them. It had nothing to do with their coach.
We gave them multiple opportunities to win it. Multiple. And they steadfastly declined our overtures. At some point, we had to move on from Arky.

ArKansas or Arky, signs all these named pitchers they brag about. Wonder why they don’t sign and brag about someone that could help them win a title. Like a player that can catch a pop fly in the ninth inning.

Florida State's Mike Martin went to Omaha 17 times without winning it all.
I think FSU, as a whole, has been to Omaha 24 times without a championship? That's gotta sting. At some point it takes something miraculous to overcome the buildup of voodoo.
