doubt he comes back. Blasted by past LSU players and others, 100% deserved.

His reputation took a hit here regardless of how you slice it.

He’s going to ball out wherever he goes and be the first or second TE taken in the draft when he’s eligible. This is much more a symptom of O losing complete control of the program than him being soft.

Has anybody stopped to think that maybe there is a lot that we don’t know? Maybe that kid is dealing with things that most of us can’t even imagine. Let’s take a step back and pray for that kid to be ok before casting judgement?

You mean 4 years. Bama players play all 4 of their years and this one doesn’t count.

College football is dead. I'm happy I witnessed 2019 as an LSU fan. I can move on from here and be fine.

We featured him in our offense and he still leaves. I hate saying this, but O has legitimately lost the team.

Dude is a Puss. NFL scouts will take notice of his softness. Heard all this hype about the kid and he doesn’t even hold a candle to Kyle Pitts. If he goes, he goes. Don’t care. F him!

I think there is a lot of truth in this statement. Opt out, transfer portal, sit out, etc. spells trouble for college football long term. If Stingley sits out next year then you are looking at two years of playing time at the college level for NFL rated players. Of course not all of them will make it to the big league.

Ed Orgeron officially says Arik Gilbert told him yesterday he is opting out for the rest of the season.

So as of now he is just sitting out a couple of games? No transfer?

He saw how much fun LSU was having last year and jumped on board. Losing isn’t much fun, so he’ll transfer to a contender.

I’d rather have players that are willing to work to make their team a contender.

All of this

O fricked up this season big time and has a lot of work to do, but amount of posters defending a freshman dipping when things get rough is so pathetic. It’s like this isn’t even the same board anymore.

Opting out is quitting

When Roberto Duran said “no mas” after round 4 with Sugar Ray Leonard in the Super Dome, was he “opting out”? Nah

He quit

He was getting his arse beat and he quit.

These players are doing the same thing

I’m really not. Arik is quitting. It’s really that cut and dry regardless of what you think of O.

Criticizing O's clear incompetence isn't defending Arik's decision though

He wasn't the first and won't be the last. At what point is this quitting an indictment on the HC? After all he quit too.

Some of you will say anything to excuse a quitter. I think we have a bunch of quitters in normal everyday life here since yall think it's so acceptable

You're clearly not paying attention, He'll go to Bama or Clemson and destroy LSU for THREE years. We have dudes opting out and declaring early, while Bama and Clemson have dudes with 1st round grades coming back every year.
