I have known Walker personally since he was little so I check in on these threads periodically to monitor the hysteria. The amount of pressure that you people are putting on him is off the charts. He is a top quality kid who has been through a lot and he will absolutely give 100% to be the best player and teammate that he can be. He may be the next Tom Brady, or he may wash out...nobody can read the future. But putting these absurd expectations on a 19 year old kid is ridiculous and does a tremendous disservice to him and, ultimately I believe, the success of the team because he can't help but feel it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have posted something similar in the past and was accused of "hating" on him. I actually feel bad for him. He was an easy target to latch onto for LSU fans. South La. kid and a Tiger legacy whose name has been popping up on message board since the was in Jr. High. Anything short of a national championship or being drafted in the first round and he is going to let down many of the village idiots on here.

Our fan base’s infatuation with the back up QB is unbelievable. People are acting like Walker Howard is going to step in and put up Joe Burrow numbers. This program needs JD or Nuss to stay. I’m ready to see Walker Howard just like everyone else, but let’s calm those expectations. There are 5 star QBs every year that don’t pan out. The more reps Howard can get with the 2’s, the better off he’ll be when it’s his time. I hope for LSU and for Walker Howard’s sake we can keep one of Nuss or JD.

Given the fact that Howard was hell bent on redshirting, I can't see him jumping ship just because he's not the starter in year 2.

He and his dad have been thinking long term the whole time.

Now, if we get to 2024 and he still hasn't played, then I'll be worried

Either Nuss or Walker is going to be the starting QB in 2024 and the other won't be here. If it's Nuss and Walker has transferred that will mean Nuss has beaten him out. Wouldn't that make the program in pretty good hands for '24 and '25 if Nuss was good enough to beat him out? If not, it will be Walker. It will sort itself out and the program will be in good shape. Both are talented.

Would you rather play Florida, Auburn, or Ole Miss next season, with Daniels, Nuss, or Walker as their QB?
How do we know, if Nuss is forced out, how many WRs will go with him.
We have heard, the WRs like Nuss's ability to get them the ball..

I can't see Brian Kelly forcing anyone out. You earn your position or you don't.

Walker knew Nuss was here when he signed on. What is wrong with you youngins?

This

Also, the Walker fan club is a bit ridiculous considering we haven’t seen him play at this level yet

This board loves a backup qb

Nuss does not have much game experience at all and Walker has never thrown a pass in a college game, so I have nothing to go off to make this determination.

How would any of us know? Walker could be the second coming of Joe Burrow or the umpteenth coming of Russell Shepard. The same is true of Nussmeier.

Let's all cross our fingers and hope Daniels goes pro to alleviate some pressure off the QB room over the next few years.

I think if Daniels hits it out of the park (I know - wrong metaphor) against Purdue, he's declaring.

All of this. If you take a 4+ star QB every year, some of those guys are going to transfer out. It is what it is. Develop them, let them compete, and the cream will rise to the top.

No. Nuss proved to me when giving time to throw he will cut you to pieces. Let JD5 go pro and we have Nuss with Howard at backup and Collins coming in.

So you think Walker is too good to sit on the bench but not good enough to improve and beat out Nuss?

Make up your mind

Don’t know how anyone can say that with a straight face. Had 3 guys in the off-season, brought in a 4th who was worse than all of them and played him for 95% of the snaps

Right or wrong, the current "start me or I'm transferring" climate is causing the QBs to put the pressure on themselves.

Not saying Walker is doing that, but that's what's happening.

Fans assume that if a player isn't playing, he's on the way out the door.
