Most of the posters seem to dig on a coach from the beginning, or a year after they are here. From that point on they dont change their opinion regardless of result, no matter how dumb it makes them look. Seems similar to politics

Most posters here are blindingly stupid.

I mean that could be said with any hire. It’s not a gamble because there will be qualified coaches with a track record who want the job.

And because everyone played little league growing up so they all think they know everything about baseball. Not everyone played the other sports as a kid.

My BIL is one of them. Watched the game with him last night. He’s only ever been to Alex Box. He had no clue stadiums existed that are bigger and nicer.

A lot of them are also still stuck in the pre-football money times where LSU was one of about 3 power conference schools that gave a shite about baseball.

We aren’t going back to those times. The natural advantages in recruiting that vaulted our football program to the upper tier don’t exist for us in baseball. They belong to Florida, Georgia, and other schools in those states and Texas.

LSU baseball is a more like Notre Dame football. Still able to be in the upper tier, but it takes a lot more work than it used to and it can’t be built on the back of local talent because there just isn’t enough of it.

You mean you need a coach who can squeeze the absolute most out of good not great players in order for teams to be successful? That he should be able to coach them up and not quit on them the moment they struggle on fly ball reads?

We need someone who can develop guys and doesn’t expect finished products to step on campus.

McDonnell might be the best in the country at that part.

You can either hit or you can’t according to our head coach.

I’m glad his own hitting coach doesn’t agree with that. We wouldn’t have a left fielder if that were the case.

Hardly. He had Cannizaro and enough talent to overcome his lack of ability to teach the game. The game didn't pass him by, he was finally exposed.
