It is a hedge against baker leaving. Aranda might be better than baker. But the season needs to play out

I dont think anything is set in stone here. The more important thing right now is that if Baker gets involved in coaching searches we have DA here to hold the rope THIS year...

DA could very well be on board for said job next season but the issue is here and now.

Everyone on this entire site knows that game was pure refball

Disingenuous argument from you here picking the EXTREME outlier

Finally someone else here with a logical reply.
FWIW - Chris Kiffin is co-DC

Aranda, will be a good hire, but wouldn’t be my first choice. He never finished top 10 in total defense at LSU or Baylor, but was always good. I trust Kiffin more than myself or anyone on here though.

Gave up 31 points before overtime.

There was 7 overtimes. That’s how often the Aggies started a drive in scoring position regardless of how the defense performed.

Allowed less than 50% completions throughout the game.

The offense was crap. Giles was #7. One player accounted for 75% of all offensive yards in that game and it wasn’t Giles.

Baker gave Chambliss a triple wide hole up the middle for a loss.

Baker needs to prove himself over the next 3 games if he intends on becoming a HC elsewhere. In a way it's kind of a preliminary interview.

If his defenses don't show up, we may be having this conversation for nothing. If they do, then chances are we'll be in the CFP. Either way we'll be fine which is why this is a good move. Two defensive minds like this on one squad is nothing but good.

That was Kentucky.

Chambliss had the whole corner open to run around for that game winning TD.

You're correct. I mixed them up. Aranda knows how to utilize a SPY on running QB'S.

Horrible argument. That game was over multiple times with LSU winning like the strip fumble in the end zone to seal the game and the refs after the dude ran for 5 yards with full possession called that not a strip fumble(wtf?). That game was rigged as can be and both teams were so tired with you could see players gasping for air on the field and puking with their hands on their hips.

I've actually seen people on this site suggest Aranda wasn't a good DC which is absolutely baffling. Some even say Baker is better than him which is also laughable. How often did Aranda's defenses not clamp down on teams in 2 minute defense when it mattered the most? Now compare that to Baker...

If Aranda isn't on staff through Orgeron's and Miles tenure they both fired earlier than they did.
