This is correct. The dumb part is why not just have draft beer. I guess because someone is going to take all those beer cans and sell them to a recycling plant and probably pocket the money they get from that

They could bring in Levy and kick them out. Levy is part of compass who has a contract with LSU for food service. Most of all the equipment is owned by LSU so it would not be to hard. The buy out of Aramark may be what is keeping them in the game. A&M had Levy doing concessions under him. If they wanted to it could have been done over the summer.

The transition to another vendor would have been too lengthy and difficult to do it over summer. Woodward's not the type to rush things and do it half-arse. Plus I believe there is a 90-day notice clause to break the contract. Timing wouldn't have worked.

One more year of this clusterF and hopefully Woodward will pull the plug.

I have good reason to believe Aramark will try to handle the majority of the beer needs via kegs and go to cans if they run out. We were there today (we handle the materials handling solutions for LSU) and it’s looking like kegs will be utilized first. The biggest obstacle will be keeping them cool on ice via rollable open ended ice containers

This is going to be a shite show. Those degenerates they hire to work the stands trying to tap a keg will be a site to behold.

Uhhhhhhh, you realize Aramark has been doing services like this since 1936? Just because they started in TS then doesn't mean it was the first job the company ever had. I'm not saying they do a good job.

Thanks for the info on kegs. I don't understand the problem of having enough cold product.

Can't LSU rent dozens of cold trailers?

Even portable freezer trailers. I remember seeing many during the BP oil spill with each one holding 300-400 20lb ice bags. Or cold trailers and have cans stored in there.

I will admit I didn’t think of this, because I am dumb

Man just imagine this scenerio. Bama in
Tiger stadium, ahead by 4 TD's at the half . Just how many full cans ( or hopefully bottles) do you think Satan would have aimed at him ? A direct hit to the head should be worth at least a season pass .

JUST DRINK WATER. It's the same thing as that krap they'll pass off as beer. Anybody stupid enough to pay more than $1 deserves to get warm water. That's what you'll get.

Water is $3 for a small bottle. They won't give you a cup to put water in. If you just want some ice, it's the full $4.50 for a small drink. Additionally, there are few water fountains in the stadium. Probably 1:2500 people on average.

"Just drink water" isn't exactly an appealing option either.

Uhhhhhhh, this was your post. You said if LSU was in control of concessions it would be a giant CF. They ran the show before the Aramark deal and the concessions and service was light years better.

Because even if you dislike Aramark, they and other companies actually have experience doing this sort of thing. If LSU did it themselves I suspect it would be a gigantic CF.

I’ll say this (I don’t want to make any personal opinions), as of yesterday the leadership of Aramark was still trying to figure out logistics of ice stations and the best means of keeping product cold

They don’t want anyone throwing full beer cans or bottles. It’s a liability issue.

People are going to pay $15 for a can of beer and then throw the thing on the field?

huge difference when adding in beer sales. there will be a lot more concessions being sold.

edit: not to mention random school students raising money wouldn't be able to sell alcohol so the logistics increase significantly.

Yep.

We're already hearing from people working on gameday set up right now that Aramark is essentially lost on how to keep the beer cold. This may not have been the most well thought out plan to implement the alcohol this year. Maybe should've kicked this to next year so they could actually come up with a plan.

We need cold beer.

This is more important than crap nachos or cold hotdogs

Ice stations? Sure, what about cold or freeze trailers? They are readily available for rent. Many use them for transporting large amount of crawfish across state lnes. Need a trailer with 400 - 20lb bags of ice, done. Can be there tomorrow. Can have several of those then at the ramp for concessions, have several large chest freezers $400 each for ice storage. Or have it adjusted to be at 34 degrees and store 15-20 cases of beer.

It was run by chartwells/levy before Aramark bought their way in.

They handled the food aspect but LSU was responsible for the people working, outside vendors, etc. It's not that the food is terrible before Aramark gets their hands on it. It's that Aramark sucks at the process of getting said food into the fan's hands while it's still somewhat consumable.
