And store the kegs where to keep them cold? 2500 garbage cans filled with ice? Do some of you think before posting? Tiger Stadium is not equipped to handle draft beer at the moment because the rule just changed. In time I’m sure LSU will invest in some walk in coolers and have draft beer but for this year it will be poured cans.

I still don’t know why the university even outsources these types of things.

And that right there is the biggest question that I've had. I would be curious to see what we might uncover if we dug a little, because with F King and, frankly, state and university leadership in general, when something gets outsourced, someone is getting a kickback.

Although that does remind me...

Tigers fans bitching about no beer being served in TS. We get beer. Tiger fans still bitching. Bunch of miserable fricks!

Plenty of time to build walk in coolers and hook up the lines for all the vendors throughout all of tiger stadium?

Basically, you want LSU to be able to do a pretty big renovation throughout the whole stadium in 2 months. Keep in mind it is state run so all this would have had to be bid on and approved before any work was done.

I have some experience with major event concessions. Some things we all need to consider:

1) This is a huge contract involving multiple facilities and getting a new vendor would be a massive undertaking. Not saying it can't be done of course, but it's not something that can be done quickly. Woodward doesn't seem like the guy who acts blindly. He probably wants to see an entire year with his eyes. think about all the vendor-supplied equipment to replace/swap out, etc. These things don't happen overnight.

2) Aramark contract already include liquor/beer sales. Aramark, as master concession, has full control over what is actually sold in the stadium, what subcontractors it brings in, etc. I'm sure LSU can and will offer concessions, and Aramark has to abide by any licensing restrictions LSU has (for example, LSU has a deal with Coke, so Aramark must honor that). But until there is an official beer provider for LSU, Aramark gets to choose what beer is sold.

3) Given the "must be in a cup" rule from the SEC, and given the current facility restrictions, I think what Aramark has proposed is the best option available. Where it will fail is that I don't believe Aramark will be able to keep up. It will be fine at the start of the game, but as supplies diminish in each stand, they won't be able to get them replenished timely.

4) The replenishment issue is a huge one. Aramark (and other companies) don't want to push more product to stands than they have to. It's a security and spoilage issue for them. For example, hot dogs. If they cook hot dogs in groups of 80, and they think they will only sell 25 more... they won't bring more to sell. They would rather lose the 25 sales and keep the 80 hot dogs frozen until next game, then cook 80, sell 25, and have to throw 55 away.

With non-perishable items, they don't want to bring more than they absolutely have to, because they don't want to have to leave too much product sitting there (security issue) or have to lug it back to storage after the game.

4) Yes, these stands are often manned by low-wage laborers. Some, yes, are lazy and inefficent. But most of them get just as frustrated as the fans do. The real problem is in the stand management, who can't get the product needed to the stand.

I would love to see LSU bring this back in-house and use more volunteer / non profit groups. But that takes time.

The same people who would throw cans on the field will do the same thing with plastic cups anyway.

Why not just do draft beer only if everything has to be in cups?

beer will come out of a cup, on the way down, much faster than out of a can. So it will be much lighter.

Kinda hard to build out dozens of draft stands in a couple of months. But I think this is the eventual goal.

Because even if you dislike Aramark, they and other companies actually have experience doing this sort of thing. If LSU did it themselves I suspect it would be a gigantic CF.

JUST DRINK WATER. It's the same thing as that krap they'll pass off as beer. Anybody stupid enough to pay more than $1 deserves to get warm water. That's what you'll get.

Uhhhhhhh, you realize Aramark has only been around since 2017? LSU handled it themselves before that using non-profit groups and vendors like Chick-Fil-A, the jambalaya people, Papa Johns, the Sushi place, etc.

Outsourcing it is fine. Outsourcing it to Aramark was dumb.

Pro stadiums with some of the most unruly fans imaginable manage to sell beer in cans and plastic/aluminum bottles. Why would college stadiums be any different? Idiots.

Yeah! Just like they've never run out of water during a day game, or have never served warm flat Cokes! I believe!

Because the SEC says you have to serve in cups. This isn't an LSU decision.

I understand that it’s an SEC decision, I however, think it’s a fricking stupid decision. I understand that LSU can’t get lines run all through the stadium to do taps (on such short notice), but the SEC’s decision re: no cans is stupid and incredibly short sighted.

We had to buy ourselves our uniform contract at work with Aramark. It was literally the worst experience and service we’ve ever had
