April 8 - all of this might unravel and recruits will end up having to make choices

That's the court ruling on revenue share and pay for play.
It could put caps on everything and undo some of these huge deals we are seeing right now.
Could be absolutely huge for LSU and schools like us that are limited on funds.

I have little to no trust in the judicial system to make a decision that will be beneficial for the health of the sport.

The cap will be on revenue sharing. The number being floated out right now is 22% of revenue can go towards players.
NIL is something completely different. The courts already ruled that you cannot deny players ability to profit off of their NIL (autographs, product endorsements, advertisement appearances, etc). I don't see how you can cap that. The NBA and NFL doesn't tell their players they can't sign any deals with Nike, Adidas, etc for more than a certain number, they're not allowed to. The NCAA or whatever governing body college football has going forward will not be able to either by law. They can only set a cap or a luxury tax for the salary that the team pays them directly. NIL is not going away and cannot be capped.

You’re wrong.
Revenue sharing will have a cap but NIL cannot be capped. Recruits will take that to court and win every time

Today I learned that some people think lsu is limited on funds.

LSU isn’t limited on funds. Where did this narrative start?

NIL is one thing , boosters with deep pockets outright paying a kid millions to go to their Alana is something else

Exactly, the whole reason we’re having this conversation at the moment is because a recruit was paid a lump sum of money upfront by a billionaire donor. Revenue sharing will hopefully put a limit on that.

Are you operating under the assumption I cannot just walk up to someone and hand them money?

The court never said nil could not have some reasonable regulations

I guess I'm just failing to understand how those regulations are supposed to be legal? The only reason sports leagues are able to have capped salaries is because they collectively bargain.

NIL isn't going away when rev share comes along. These guys will have even more money now.

The courts cannot legitimately say that an individual (portnoy, knight, etc…) cannot give their money to a kid.
It’s unwinnable.

The escalation is by design my friend

I hadn’t been on campus in a long time until a few months ago. If you aren’t noseblind to it it’s very obvious LSU has money, especially compared to years ago.
