Some of those winners eeked out wins against unranked opponents.

Bring back the BCS

The BCS was horrible and produced more arguments. It should be settled on the field.

Now we just have to argue about who the 11 or 12 seed should be and those aren’t going to be real championship contenders anyway. Remember it’s REALLY about finding the champion.

Add Utah. They now have two wins against teams with winning records, powerhouses Houston and Cincinnati.

I still use the BCS rankings on X as a reference. They unfortunately usually map pretty well to the polls tho
that's because two-thirds of the BCS formula was the human polls. The BCS wasn't like the RPI for basketball, which factors in a lot of real metrics.

Voter polls are garbage and irrelevant. Ignore them.

Ohio State won’t drop that much. Might even drop us a spot to benefit them

They had 220 passing yards and 280 total. Still not impressive. The stat that jumped out to me was 5 sacks allowed. Arch is going to have a rough time in Tiger Stadium.

I'm not sure where they end up with Sayin out.

The IU win is propping up their resume, but they were a footstep away from losing that game, and IU's offense hasn't looked good for weeks. At the same time, the Buckeyes will still likely win out and reach the B1G Championship Game.

I'm curious what the CFP committee does with them if they truly care about injuries

With no Sayin and how they left FSU out, outside the top 12.

I've always been skeptical because it always lines up with the committee. Now if that's truly how it is then sure. I just have my doubts on what the committee actually does and it being objectively effective.

The BCS was never purely objective because it uses polls and metrics set up by humans who have biases. It's just more objective because it doesn't shift the parameters as the season plays out, as we tend to do as humans. The committee uses a lot of the same more objective data. I think that is why they almost always line up so well.

Exactly. The committee has always claimed they don't use the polls or computers, which is probably technically true, but they're still interpreting the same data points that would be plugged into a BCS formula.

If anything, the rankings lining up should be an argument for why the BCS was fine and shouldn't have been scrapped.

I would say use the BCS as the selector in a multi-team playoff format.
