It’s become a tradition to hang out all day, cooking, drinking, and watching football on the TV before heading to the stadium. That would suck arse if we can’t.

So.... tailgating. Just joshing you. I’m not holding out any hope for a meaningful tailgate experience in this clown world we’re living in. Hope I’m wrong.

the crowds will be so limited that it wouldn’t be any fun anyway.

We have about 30 regulars in our tailgate. I've decided not to attend the games even if i am chosen to. I talked with 6 others in our group, and so far they are all rolling their ticket money over to the 2021 season. I really don't see any more than 40,000 at any game this season. As long as the season last. Surely some of the Tiger players, or players of opposing teams will test positive at some point throwing the season into the crapper.

At this point, that is what I’m planning as well.

Not only is your post realistic but it’s funny and seemingly satirical.

Herd immunity takes 65-70% of the population being infected AND subsequently immune. I believe way more people have been infected than the numbers say, but it's not close to 70% of the population. I also believe that people who were asymptomatic when infected are unlikely to have long term immunity.

I disagree, and most scientists do as well. Many people who have never had COVID-19 have immunity. This has been established in many studies since the German one about two months ago.

My guess is that herd immunity will come when 25% to 30% have had it.

I think we'll see some creativity in finding ways to tailgate.

I’m basing this on my belief that we are very close to herd immunity in South Louisiana

I have read that herd immunity would be about 70% coverage. We have ~115,000 confirmed cases in Louisiana. We have about 3.5 million population. 70% translates to 2.45 million.
I don't see how you can think that we are any where near herd immunity.

No.

But I will make my way to campus to protest for black lives with a case of beer, tent and a giant bowl of jambalaya.

Maybe not where you are used to doing it, but there will be. May even be a good change of pace.

Massive watch parties at houses. Highly unlikely they allow tailgating

This assumes that everyone has been tested. Surely many have had it and not been tested. I tend to believe that we are closer to herd immunity than not.

Just call it a massive organized protest against who ever the opposing school is that weekend. Boom problem solved.
