The capacity doesn't need to be expanded, but it also doesn't need to be drastically reduced the way some people have suggested.

Turn 5-8 thousand into some sort of party deck, make more seats chair backs, improve concessions drastically, cut out some of the garbage music, feature the band more, and all is good.

No stadium with 100,000+ is selling out every game. Reduce slightly and make those improvements. It's as good as you'll get anywhere.

It won’t ever happen. The college stadium capacity arms race is finished. Aside from 1 or maybe 2 games a year most schools are having issues fully selling out their current stadiums

If tickets prices wouldn't be so stupid, the stafium would sell out every conference game

When we took a tour of Tiger Stadium, the turf management guy said that they would likely not put an upper deck on the north side of the stadium because it would limit the amount of sunshine the turf would receive.

Sounds like that turf manager didn’t pay attention in science class.

Ok we’re not Ole Miss. 90,000.

ETA: I might have misunderstood context.

Never gonna happen. It would involve closing North Stadium. Now they may renovate what exists but no expansion.

I'd like to see them take the current stadium size and just make it a better experience - bigger, chairback seats, more clubs/alternative seating, etc - at the expense of some of the existing seating capacity. Taking it down to 100K isn't going to hurt the gameday atmosphere especially if it's full instead of 3/4 or 1/2 full. But also can't charge $300 a seat.

I completely agree. The competition these venues face is not other entertainment options, it's the attendees living room, big screen tv, kitchen, and restroom. You have to make it comfortable for people.

Family member was structural engineer on east and west uppers. He said north would be most expensive side to add new upper and would require Mike's habitat and PMAC ramps to be modified. There is also something about the weight of the existing structure on the North Side requiring more structural work on the base of a potential upper deck in order to prevent sinking.

The only structural additions to the stadium I would like to see would be overhangs for the upper decks. Kind of like this:

Should never have added the upper south. As tech grows and costs go up its going to be harder and harder to sell out- for all schools

Anyone know why they did the south end zone lower in two levels and not mimic the north.

I would support a massive scoreboard that’s not littered with tiny little logos

What should happen is to tear down the west upper and add more club seating. There is still a high demand for premium seating. The reduction in capacity would also help the lower bowl attendance issues. You would lose no revenue due to the increased per-ticket price of the premium seating.

And what if the legacy season ticket holders like my family in the west uppers? frick us, I guess?

I vaguely remember there being some weird law that prevented north endzone expansion because of the roads/streets. Part would have to be built over it.

Maybe it would be a better idea to expand the library and add a nice coffee shop.
