Most fan bases at the big time football schools feel that their team is loaded and is going to have a great season.
Brian Kelly has proven that he’s not a good enough coach yet, to put LSU in the national championship picture. Hope that changes this season.

So you agree with the media?

I don't think Nussmeier is the chalk selection. I'd pick the field. But Sellers is good.

Now you gotta put some context behind this take what exactly are the positions we lack a ton of depth at ?
quote]Offensive line is more unproven than lacking depth. You have two 5 star freshmen in curne/thomas, two of the most highly sout after transfers in Moore and Thompson, at tackle you have a former 5 star sliding in to start at Tackle in Weston Davis and a former top 100 kid in Tyree Adams at the other tackle spot. DJ Chester may not be a popular name on this site but he’s playing out of position at center. Not only is he a much more natural fit at guard but he was a former top 60 overall recruit you absolutely have a lot of bodies and talent on the O-line. Mgungba and Echos are also other names you have Linebacker is def young but theirs a reason baker didn’t go in the portal to grab a guy there. He loves the young puppies from the 25 class behind weeks and Keys. We signed 5 LB’s who were top 300 overall recruits in Charles Ross, Jaiden braiker, Zach weeks, Kylan Moses and Cj Jimcoiley. Someone from that group will emerge as a difference maker year 1 imo[/quote]
You answered your own question bro, unproven freshmen or first time sec starters isn’t depth. West Weeks, Jardin Gilbert is depth. A freshmen guard, linebacker or a guy that’s never played a particular position on the o-line isn't depth. We have a good roster but there’s a lot of inexperienced back ups that need time to develop.

Anyone else feel like the media is sleeping on our overall roster ?
I think they're sleeping on our Defense
Blake Baker with this type of talent is going to be good enough to bring in a good year with a Les Miles type Offense
That said our Offense, especially Nuss is going to shock a lot of people, he's already playing great and this year you can expect him to be in the mix for Heisman
Best Defense since 2011 with a great offense (not 2019 great but great none the less)
This will be a really fun year, enjoy it

Josh Pate is a little Pom Pom waving bama fan boy who claims to be impartial.
When we start winning the narrative will be “of course they should win, they have the best roster money can buy!”

I think the media has been pretty kind to our largely unproven team. We have a damn talented team assembled, but sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Clemson has a solid program and Dabo is a decent coach. I wouldn’t say he is anything special. He does not out coach his talent level. I could easily Clemson being a let down team even with their talented roster. Clemson could show up not ready to play game 1 just as easily as we could.

According to the Kelly haters we are going 0-12. So maybe they aren’t sleeping?
Posted on 7/19/25 at 11:18 pm to Cd104
No. We have to prove ourselves

I'm just glad Blake Baker will be in his 2nd year as DC. His defenses always makes a big improvement from the 1st to 2nd year. This gives me more optimism for the defense after the Matt House disaster.

fanva, I usually agree with your "takes", but not so much here.
quote:
The overall talent is in line with the past. (Don't agree) The issue is the spots where talent/experience is lacking.
The OL with an already hesitant running qb who tends to see ghosts.(Agree) The overall talent is in line with the past. The issue is the spots where talent/experience is lacking.
The WR room isn't proven. (Sort of agree) Just a bunch of talented kids and expensive transfers who have flashed.
The DL is essentially a completely thrown together unit again with talent but far from proven.(Disagree)
The LB depth is putrid. (Disagree)
Until the secondary plays like they're at LSU I refuse to believe it. Can't blame talent now Corey. (Sort of agree)
Our "Star" hasn't performed like one for 2 years.(Agree)

One problem is looking at LSUs roster in a vacuum
As much improvement as LSU has made recently, other teams are still ahead of LSU overall in BCR.
The top sec teams are so close in talent it's almost a wash. Coaching will be a big factor but not necessarily all playcalling. Culture, getting kids to have a team first mentality is going to be big in the NIL, me first era.

I agree with your take. LSU is one of the few (maybe like 6 or 7) cfb programs that are actually capable of winning it all. They’ve shown before what they can do with a proven QB AND a roster that comes together. This finally seems to be that year under the BK era. Beat Clemson and the media tune will shift greatly

Yes. But that's us looking through P&G glasses.
And not really having a complete understanding of the other teams rosters they have put ahead of LSU.

quote:Agree and disagree. Anybody with a modicum of sense would consider LSU a playoff team.

We have literally got the blueprint of recent championship quality teams. People can say IF all they want, but we loaded up on the defense in the portal. There is no if the defense gets better. It's going to be a top 25 unit.
The only thing i even slightly am not assured of is run blocking. However Kelly did go and address it with getting a second OL guy (TE coach), who knows run blocking.

Anybody that says we lost experience at safety does not pay any attention apparently. LSU has lost absolutely nothing at safety. Most of us on here could’ve went out there and played the safety position better than the heaping pile of shite LSU had out there at safety for the past 2 years or more.
