It’s not the LSU standard to have a team full of “program players”. Not to insult those guys, they are the bread & butter. But you need dudes.

Regardless of how bad our offense was last year (not as bad as everyone claims) the defense had a 7 pt lead with less than 2 minutes left in the game and allowed A&M to go 80+ yds to tie the game. I am not sure when LSU fans stopped thinking our defense should win the game in that situation.
SO this is a not blame the refs thread. Deflect to Aranda to protect O.

I guess the same ones not upset with the defensive rankings this year.
Deflect status confirmed.

They weren't a "shite sandwich" they were a 9-4/10-3 team, nothing more and nothing much less.

According to you, 9-4. You must have really been pissed in 2014.

I am saying we could have done better, and our offense was terrible the first two years.
We left wins on the field because we couldn't score points.
We fired an OC and hired a guy who had a good idea but no idea how to do it.

Sullivan and Dillon have tons of talent
They are 4th & 5th on the depth chart and passed up by 3 sophomores recruited by O!!! What the frick are you smoking!

Do you really believe NO ONE could have put out a better offense with those players?
And again you miss the point

Our skill position players were good when O took over but both sides of the line were below par.

No, like many others, I had definite concerns when he was first hired for the permanent head coaching position.
However, I certainly can't imagine how either Fisher or Herman would have been any better.
Also, thanks for this thread. I am wondering why it received so many downvotes.

I don't blame refs and I am not blaming Aranda for the loss...I blame the team as a whole for not getting it done. Yeh a first down wins the game but so does a stop on the last drive.
ETA: when we lost to ND I thought O should've gone for a TD and I also thought our defense should've stopped ND. I blame O for that loss though.

Your post sure doesn't read that way.

I guess this just looks to me like breaking eggs to make an omelette and nothing really atypical of ANYONE taking over a program. It looks like he's found what he was looking for this year, though. I like it so far.

Its not regardless. Its the entire conversation we are having.

Probably but impossible to prove either way.
sure, but the logic is hard to dispute.

Does a new qb, young and injured line, new rb's have any impact on offensive performance?
Yes, but not as much as taking that new QB and putting him under center for the first time since middle school, or asking that injured OL to hold their blocks for long 5 seconds.

To agree that we should've gotten a first down is putting all the blame on the offense for that loss. Do you really believe the offense should be completely to blame for the A&M loss?

Maybe, but saying "go" tigers certainly muddies the waters.

He had good RBs and that was it
Chark is in the NFL and he is TEARING IT UP
He has 30 Receptions 528 yards and 5 TDs
Moreau is starting in the NFL too.
So if you ignore 2 NFL receiving targets, yeah only RBs.

No, but the defense did score a TD and provide a couple times in OT that the offense could have and should have won the game.

I like it too.
But that doesn't make the Canada hire some master plan. It was a debacle. We reset and hired E which also wasn't right.
Like i said, i give O all the credit in the world for making a change after a 10-3 season. Thats the kind of stuff that make me rethink him as a coach. He was less satisfied than y'all

I don't understand those who want to pretend this hire was the best we could have expected from the start.
LSU is one of the most coveted jobs in the country, certainly in the top ten.
When O was hired, no top fifty program would have given him the job. None.
Alleva did.
Call it luck, call it a spark of genius, if you want, but based on the objective data available at the time, the hire may little or no sense.
in hindsight, it looks pretty damn good today.
