I don’t think it’s come out yet but probably around a million give or take just looking at the numbers for the previous games.

Yes, but the CWS is at least when it starts to become visible to the main stream

sure....that's why it's known as "America's Pastime".

A LOT LESS than the number of viewers for the college football playoff and NCAA men's basketball tournament.
Our fan base greatly overestimates how many people watch college baseball.
We are the only big time sports school that puts anything more than a token amount of cash into baseball, and we're making a mistake by doing it. We should be all in on football and men's basketball.
The Vanderbilt and Miss st type schools (not big time) try harder at baseball than most because they know they can't win consistently in the two major sports.
Don't believe LSU is throwing money away by funding baseball more than the other big schools?
You'll never see LSU playing Old Dominion for a football title, or Duke playing E Michigan for a basketball championship, but you're about to witness LSU playing Coastal friggin Carolina for the baseball one.

MLB is known as the national pastime, not college baseball.

Baseball is America's pastime. Not a certain kind of baseball.
"The term “America’s Pastime” was first used in 1856 by the New York Mercury to describe the sport of baseball, which has been a significant part of American culture for over 165 years"
MLB wasn't founded until 1871.

Not really. Few people care about college baseball. But that is hard for die hard college sports fans in the south to comprehend.

somehow softball is growing in numbers. Texas/Tech was the highest ever a few weeks ago with 2.5m

Are you serious with that argument Clark????

You're right. We need to be more like the soulless, nondescript Midwest.

LSU is a baseball blue blood. Just go jump ship to root for Maryland like you have been chomping at the bit to do and cut ties here.

I'm as big a fan of LSU as anybody in the two sports that matter, for close to 50 years. The minor ones, who in the hell gives a damn besides our little corner of the world? And by the way, we didn't draw a dozen fans to our baseball games before Skip got here.
I really long for the day when LSU becomes a BLUE BLOOD in tiddlywinks. That's about as important nationally as college baseball.

I don’t know what the numbers were, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were fairly high the next few days with people watching and wanting LSU to get beat.
It’ll be the baseball version of people rooting against Bama on Saturdays.

If you care so little why the hell are you in any of the baseball threads? Go hibernate somewhere until football season.

The games still draw very well across the South and parts of the West. And there’s not a lot going head to head with it right now, either.
The Gold Cup Group Stages suck and the Club World Cup is just now turning into something. MLB this early in the season…meh. The NBA Finals have been great, but it’s 2 small markets and the league as a whole is in a big ratings slump.
I’m sure the game drew very well for its time slot.

horseshite. Every SEC team except Mizzou is pitting money into baseball. Money for coaches, facilities, and of course players.
LSU, Arkansas, UT, A&M and Texas are putting in real money. State, OM and Vandy aren’t that far behind. USC and Auburn have just finished major stadium renovations.
Say what you want about the rest of the country outside of a handful of program, but the top of the SEC is absolutely spending. You are ignorant saying otherwise.
